Time to Panic

added by Kingdom Come 5 years ago A BM O Canine

Elsewhere, across town, Alfred Dormitabis, rightful owner of the Hypnosis Coin, sighed in relief. His old magician friend had conjured the coin out of thin air. "Where on earth did you find it?"

The magician, a tall elderly man with a long beard, shrugged his shoulders.
"It was just a simple retrieval spell. I don't know where it went off to."
"But what if someone found it and used it?" interjected Alfred, clearly worried about the consequences of improper use.
His friend gave a small chuckle. "Magic doesn't work like that. You see... well, that's too in depth. Suffice to say that magic needs to be tied to particular objects. In this case, your coin. Once the coin is removed, poof, no more magic."

Alfred breathed a sigh of relief. "So there's no way there's any lingering effects." He just wanted to double check.
The magician stroked his beard thoughtfully. "Well, I'm not saying it's impossible, but..." He noticed Alfred's face paling. "It's highly unlikely. You would have to tie a specific item or action or phrase to the magic's affects. It would sort of cling on afterwords, leaving behind a trace of power. A random passerby wouldn't know to do that, so that shouldn't be the case. Besides, it probably just fell down a storm drain or something."

Alfred was still uneasy. "You're absolutely sure no one used it."
Again, the magician considered his words. "It's highly improbable. I'll tell you what. I'll cast a mana allocation spell. If any magic traces got left behind, it would let us know. That's a complicated spell, though. I would need a couple days to complete it. Plus, I would need the coin during all that time. It seems like overkill to me though."

Alfred shook his head. "I don't want anyone mesmerized by my careless mistake. Honestly, that coin is more trouble than its worth. You can keep it once you're done with that spell. I don't need it to hypnotize people anyway."
The magician nodded understandingly. "I suppose it was too powerful of a gift for you. I just immediately thought of you when I created it." He sighed. "Ah well, that's probably for the best. It was nice chatting with you, old friend."

Dormitabis nodded. "Of course. We should do this again sometime." He shook the magician's hand, happy that this ordeal was finally over. He hoped he wouldn't have to deal with that coin ever again.

Back at Kyle and Ally's house, Kyle was freaking out. The coin had vanished into thin air. He had kept it on top of a dusty armoire, paranoid that someone would steal it. He craned his neck upward, and saw a circular outline in the dust where he had placed the coin. It had literally vanished out of existence. So much for infinite power.

"What are you doing?" His sister had spotted him peering over the top of the cabinet, and was clearly confused.
"I was looking for my spiral coin, like the one hypnotist's use. Did you take it?"
Ally rolled her eyes. "God, you are such a dork. No, I didn't take your dumb toy."

"Okay then..." Kyle was struck by a dawning realization. What if the triggers still applied? He had meant to take them out eventually, but he no longer had the means to do so.
"Ally, I think there's something stuck to your tongue."
"What are you talking about?" Ally was confused by the sudden change in topic.
"Ally, be a Good Girl and show me your tongue."

Ally was struck by the image of a dog, panting in the heat. It was hot, so it was drooling and sticking out its long, flat, tongue. She wondered how big the tongue was, before the image rapidly vanished.

Her tongue rapidly grew in size, flopping out of her mouth, nearly reaching her collarbone. Ally now had a dog's tongue, and she proudly displayed it to her owner like a Good Girl.

Kyle gulped, the triggers still worked. He quickly uttered. "Barbie Doll." Ally's tongue rolled up back into her mouth as she blinked twice, forgetting about the weird command.

Ally noticed that her mouth was dry for some reason. "Good luck finding your dumb toy. I'm going to get a drink of water." She quickly headed out of his room, and wondered what made her so thirsty.

Kyle had started sweating bullets. He tried to think what would happen. If Ally got caught transforming, he would be in big trouble. There might be some kind of magic police that were already on his tail. Considering the power of the coin, who knew what they could do to him?

Kyle thought back to when he first hypnotized Ally, and groaned. He was pretty sure Ally would transform no matter who said the trigger. That would mean she could be walking in the park, hear someone say "Good Dog" and immediately transform in broad daylight. It was a nightmare. Yes, it would be amazing and kind of erotic, but it would be only a matter of time before he got caught. There had to be something he could do.
