"Did you give me a name before I was changed?" Ty asked.
"Of course," she answered, "your name was Tyna, and it shall be your name once again!"
"Tyna..." She said to herself with a smile. It was beautiful, just like her.
What was also beautiful was the mermaid in her mother's arms. She was beautiful, but somehow... familiar, like they knew each other. Tyna stroked her cheek and didn't take her eyes off her for a second as they swam along. Larissa noticed this and smiled.
The smile faded as the mermaid in her arms began to stir and moan. Larissa set her afloat as she came to. "Hello? Are you alright?" Tyna asked.
"Ty..." She moaned. Tyna was shocked, how did she know her human name? "Save him from..." Her eyes opened and she looked at Larissa and Tyna. "...MERMAIDS!?" She thrashed around, trying to escape, but Tyna swam up and grabbed her arms.
"Calm down!" Tyna calmly said to her, holding her steady. "You're safe with us!"
"Safe!?" She shrieked. "You did something to Ty..." It was then she noticed her melodically feminine voice. She then looked down and saw pearlescent seashells covering feminine breasts, a slim waist, and beyond that, shimmering violet scales. "AND WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME!?"
"Dustin?" Tyna asked.
"How do you know my name!?" Dustin thrashed as she tried to pull out of Tyna's grip. "Did you torture it out of Ty before you drowned him?"
"Dustin, Look at me!" Tyna shouted as she gave him a slight shake. "I AM Ty!"
Dustin must have taken a full minute examining the face of the mermaid restraining her. Her own face was in complete shock the whole time. "Ty?" She finally said.
"Tyna, now, but yes... it's me. It turns out I'm a princess of a mermaid Queendom. It was my time to go back, and Larissa, my real mother, came back to get me."
"But... WHY'D YOU TURN ME INTO A MERMAID!?" Dustin shrieked, her sorrow coming through clearly.
"That was your own doing by interfering with a delicate and sensitive spell." Larissa scolded. That is what caused you to absorb some of Tyna's magic, transforming you into the mermaid you are."
"Well, can't you change me back!?" Dustin asked. "I mean, you two seemed to be able to change back and forth easily."
"It was hardly easy to make Tyna human to begin with." Larissa began. "Mine was a simple, and temporary disguise spell that is impractical to maintain for a whole lifetime. Hers was an incredibly complex spell that we were lucky enough to have pulled off successfully in the first place. On top of all that, royal mermaid magic now courses through your body, and that is something that can never be removed. In short; you're one of us now."
Dustin sank to the bottom of the seabed, she pulled her tail to her chest and hugged it tightly.
"If it helps, mermaids are all girls;" Tyna began, "so you don't have to worry about any guys hitting on you
Dustin heard Tyna, but didn't react. Her mind was a jumble of emotions and she was too busy sorting it out.
