First steps

Felicia felt her cheeks burning with rage and embarassment. She had never been in trouble at school. Felicia was the quiet one, the polite one. Every teacher she had ever had told her parents that Felicia was such a helpful and deliteful girl. It was Adam that had ruined it.

As the two now sat outside the principals office she glared at him, her eyes dampening with tears. "Ugh I can't believe you hit me," Adam groaned, still holding his eye.

"Just shut up you jerk," she snarled. "You act like such a...such a...FUCKING ASSHOLE!!"

Adam smirked as he glanced towards the angry blonde girl. "Wow who knew you could curse like a sailor," he laughed. "Hell I don't think you've said anything except when answering a question."

"I'm not a mute," Felicia frowned.

"Um okay," Adam said. "By the way what the hell is a mute?"

"Ugh your stupid," Felicia sighed. "It means someone who can't talk. If you actually paid attention in class you would know." Felicias bottom lip began to quiver as tears slowly began to fall from her eyes. Adam gazed at the girl in shock, not understanding why she was so upset. "Why are you crying?" he asked.

Felicia sniffed, wiping her eyes on her sleeve. "Ive never been in trouble before," she whimpered. "My teachers will think I'm a bad kid and my parents are going to be so mad at me."

Adam gawked at the girl, unable to process the idea of someone being so upset about getting in trouble. "You cant be serious," he scoffed. "At worst you'll get detention. I mean seriously you never get in trouble. The teachers love how helpful you are and all the kids rhink your just some apple polisher."

"Im not an apple polisher," she cried, fresh tears falling from her eyes. "I juat want ro do well at school and make everyone proud of me. Is that so wrong? And now youve...youve ruined that."

Adam stared at Felicia as she began crying softly. The boy was dumbstruck at how she was acting but he was begining to underatand. Adam felt the same way about football. All he wanted to do was make his dad proud when he played football. Ever since he joined the team he saw how happy his dad was when he did well. As he watched Felicia he began to understand. For Felicia, being the model student was as important as him playing football. Adam sighed as he realized just how badly Felicia felt.

"Felicia Martin, Adam DiMico the principal will see you."

Felicia and Adam nodded, slowly getting to their feet and trudging their way into the principals office. As they stood before Principal Jenkins the two teens shifted nervously.

"Care to explain yourselves," he asked, his deep voice sending chills down Felicias spine. Felicia looked at the middle aged man, feeling the color drain from her face.

"Principal Jenkins this was my fault," Adam blurted out.

Felicia turned stunned at what Adam was saying.

"Sir I provoked Felicia when I entered study hall," he said. "Felicias friend kicked me out of her house last night and I was mad. I came in and began yelling at Felicia and her friend. She only ounched me in self defense because she thought I was going to hurt them, which I wasn't going to do. It...it was a misunderstanding sir..I'm sorry."

Principal Jenkins took off his glasses as he rubbed his eyes. Narrowing his brow he gazed at the two teens.

"I see," he sighed. "Felicia is that what happened?"

Felicia stared dumbfounded at Adam before turning to Principal Jenkins. "Y..yes sir," she said meekly.

"Felicia seeing as this is your first offense I'll be letting you go with a warning," he stated. "However I would caution you to avoid striking other students. I will.not tolerate my students fighting even if it is in self defense. As for you Adam I'm very disappointed, I'll inform your coach that you'll be spending the week in detention. Now both of you return to class."

As Adam and Felicia exited the principals office the young blonde teen stared at Adam in utter shock. "Why did you do that," she asked.

Adam shrugged as he glanced over at the cute girl. "I don't know," he muttered. "I..I guess..well..I felt bad. I mean you seem nice and everything...plus your not like some of the other cute girls that just hang around me because I'm cool. Your...your special."

"Y..you think I'm cute!?"

"Yeah," Adam muttered, lowering his eyes. "I mean you are, even though you and your friends arent into guys."

"I'm not gay," Felicia said quickly. "I mean Diane and Naomi are but...you not what doesn't matter. Diane is my best friend and who cares if their gay, shes an awesome person period."

"Oh," Adam said blushing. "Your...your right. I'm...I'm sorry it won't happen again."

Adam and Felicia now stared at eachother, sharimg an awkward silence between them. The sound of the bell shaking them back to their senses. "So," Adam stammered. "I..um..i should probably get going. I'm sorry I was being a jerk Felicia. Hope we can talk again soon."

Felicia nodded thickly as Adam began making his way to class. As she watched the boy leave she could see him look backwards, causing the girls pulse to race. Gasping in surprise Felicia now raced too her next class. "Oh my god," she thought. "I think he has a crush on me! And I think I might have a crush on him!!" Felicias fave flushed as she now ran to meet up with her friends.
