The group neatly and perfectly walked away from the changing fast food establishment to continue with their current, as their minds put it, "objective": socializing.
Meanwhile, the cascade began to spread faster due to the conversion of a popular site as well as the mere presence of the group. Other people began converging into orderly and constructive lines to eat at the now alien burger joint, with patrons developing grey skin or large black beady eyes just as they stand in line. By the time the next couple came up to the counter, their antennae grew fully between their hair and voices now monotonous. Even strangers who just happened to glance or make a comment about the group of friends would begin to change, eventually talking about the statistics of their congregating in the mall facility. And of course, the cascade made everyone fully unaware of these changes, their minds quickly adapting to their new reality.
Soon, the group of four alien acquaintances came across another group of friends who they occasionally hang out together whenever they meet, the latter spotting the changed group first.
"Hey you guys! Over here!" Bill, the oldest of the three senior students, called out to them, inviting them to the table they were occupying.
Without a break in their walk, the four teenage aliens approach the three, taking the seats offered to them at the table by standing where they used to be, their logic deeming sitting as inefficient and unnecessary.
"Greetings, fellow human module of three." Jennifer said in her monotonous, yet polite voice. She raised her hand in greeting, not to wave but rather to signify acknowledgement. As she did, her hands went through another change, with her node tipped fingers merging together until only three alien slender fingers were left, each still identical to how they appeared before. Despite happening right in front of everyone present, the changes went unnoticed to the three increasingly grey friends before them.
"Well, okay then! I guess greetings to you guys as well!" Cass, the beauty of the trio greeted cheerily, raising her own three fingered hand to the group. Without warning, the three immediately stood up, abandoning their chairs just like the four, the chairs fading away as if they never existed along while the table levitated off the ground, the strange alien technology materializing at the base of the tabletop silently propulsing it off the ground to accommodate for their new stance.
"So what has your module of four been up to today?" Vic, the literary geek, asked as his voice began to adjust according to the beginnings of his antennae pushing through his brown hair.
"This module of four has not increased in elevation," Jennifer said curtly, not understanding the casual jargon. "Vocal inclination suggests you mean to request a report on the daily activities of this module of four. Request granted. This module of four has congregated to this establishment of nourishment and commercial activities. After congregating, this module of four then satiated nourishment requirements and then continued to accept invitation to initiate social interactions with your module of three."
All the while Jennifer gave her lengthy "report" the trio of friends began to listen and change. At first, their attention was of curiousness, it soon shifted into an analytical mentality as their antennae were pulled to their full length. As she concluded her conversation, the three friends appeared similarly to the Jennifer's group, becoming their own "module of three"
"This report has been noted and appreciated," Bill, now 'William', said in an identical monotonous voice. "This module of three reports an identical set of activities of which accounts for variations deemed inconsequential and shall be expunged." 'Cassandra' and 'Victor' confirming their module leader's report immediately after.
