While the boys deliberated amongst themselves, little Aubrey eyed the stone on the ground. Being shorter than the others meant that he had a front-row seat to temptation. The former Audrey’s “strike first and ask later” mentality only made his next action inevitable.
Only Tobi could see the look in the boy’s face and let out a warning squeak, but the others paid no attention. Thus, they were unprepared when Aubrey stooped down and snatched up the stone, saying, “I gotta fix it!”
Too late, Mika yelled, “Aubrey! No!”
A flash of light blinded him. The sensations of things altering again rushed through him as the world shifted sideways. Then, the ground was once more beneath his feet.
When his vision came back, he could only stare in amazement at what Aubrey had done.
