While Jen was introducing Claire to her mothers, across the street in the high school, Tad and Amy were eating their lunches together in the cafeteria.
“So the city council meeting is tonight,” Tad said, talking about the first thing that came to mind.
“I’ve heard a lot of people saying that they’re planning on going tonight to finally know what it’s about,” Amy said. “I’m personally on the fence about going.”
“Well...politics have never really interested me,” Tad admitted. “Part of me doesn’t want to go because I’m worried that I won’t be able to understand what’s going on.”
“I’m sure it can’t be that hard to understand,” Amy said, giggling. “And I assume the other part of you wants to go so you can finally know what it’s about, right?”
“Pretty much,” Tad said. “Though I suppose it really wouldn’t hurt to go tonight. I mean, it’s the end of the week, and it won’t be incredibly long.”
“How about we go together?” Amy suggested. “That way, we can have some time to ourselves when it’s over.”
“Then it’s a plan,” Tad said, smiling. “We can walk there together, and when it’s over, maybe we could go back to your place?”
“My mom said that she was going to be in Seattle for her job until tomorrow night, my dad said that he was planning to go to a friend’s house for their Fantasy Football league, and Jay and Leon have been planning a sleepover with their friends for weeks, and their having it tonight.”
“So we’ll have the house to ourselves,” Tad said.
“That we will,” Amy responded, kissing his cheek. “I look forward to tonight.”
