Jo said the first thing that popped into her head. “I wish it was normal for Catherine to be naked,” she whispered, and suddenly, Catherine’s expression softened. The strange looks she was getting ceased, and the woman was left standing there, naked, holding her handbag. She stood there for a few moments, acting completely casually, until she spotted Jo across the street, and her face lit up.
“Jo, is that you?” The therapist smiled, looked both ways, and quickly skipped across the street. Barefoot, the black asphalt was a little hot, but judging how little attention she gave, she seemed used to it. “Fancy seeing you here. How’ve you been holding up?”
Jo swallowed. It was very strange standing next to a woman she’d poured her most secret thoughts and desires into, having her be completely naked, and her being totally casual about the whole thing. Honestly, she was growing rather aroused, but she felt unsure of what she was doing. Clearly, the ring worked, but was messing with people like this really ethical?
“Is something the matter?” Catherine asked, confused as to why Jo hadn’t responded.
Jo looked up at Catherine’s familiar expression and slowly shook her head. “No… well, okay, maybe a little. It’s a little hard to explain, though.” How could she possibly explain what happened, even if she wanted to? Nobody would ever believe her. Catherine would probably think she’d finally actually lost it.
“Well, you don’t have to tell me right now if you don’t want to. As long as you’re doing okay, we can always wait until I see you next week.”
