Tom spotted where Tad was before he began to make his way towards the teen. When he stood in front of the teenager, Tad stood up and held out his hand. "It's nice to meet you Mr. Herald," Tad said.
Tom shook Tad's hand. "Please, call me Tom," he said. "You said your name was Tad, correct?"
Tad nodded. "Yes sir." He then gestured to teenage girl who was sitting in the chair next to the one he had been sitting in. "And this is my girlfriend, Amy Howler."
"It's very nice to meet you young lady," Tom said.
"Likewise," Amy responded.
Tom then turned back to face Tad. "I'm sorry about what happened to your father," he said. "I'm sure he was a good man."
"He was," Tad confirmed. "He helped me to become who I am today. I wish that Lionel Ulysses was able to answer for his crimes, but at least he can't hurt anyone anymore."
"I suppose that's a silver lining, if you could call it that," Tom said. "Anyway, what kind of things do you want to know?"
"Well...what drove you to keep digging for information?"
Tom took a second to think about what Tad had said. "Well, I suppose it's because I've always been a truth seeker," Tom said. "That's sort of why I became a reporter in the first place. People deserve to know the truth. When I saw that footage from the police bodycam of Ulysses' tail, I couldn't believe my eyes! If you saw something like that, wouldn't you want to know what happened?"
Tad nodded. "I would," he said. "It's just human nature to question the unknown."
"Exactly," Tom said. "Even after his death, I kept searching for answers. That lead me to a costume shop where I met my fiancé, and she told me about everything."
"Was it nice to know that you were right about there being more than people assumed?" Tad asked.
"It's bittersweet," Tom explained. "It's nice to know that I'm not going crazy, but I wish I could tell the world at the same time."
"I agree," Tad said. "I've gone my whole life keeping this huge secret from everyone I've met. There were times when I was younger where I wished that I could tell my closest friends about Weres, but I know I can't. It just felt like a burden honestly." He looked over at Amy and smiled before saying, "I don't want our kids to have to go through the same."
"That's what I hope to change," Tom said.
