When Animalia was just getting started, Dr. Jones wasn't too busy. But now that Animalia was about to turn two years old, there were now more than ten appointments a day, at least at his new clinic. Because of that, he was already getting several more psychiatrists hired. Bunni Clair was also going to be working there after she had graduated from online college and gotten her doctorate paper published. But there were some new problems cropping up, mainly due to the instincts of feral animals mixing with human emotions in converted Animalians, especially in those who were more than sixty years old.
Case in point was Ella and Simone. They were a black lesbian couple who had to keep their "status" top secret due to the time in America where being homosexual would get you beaten at the side of the road (not that anything of that nature was confirmed to happen), to which Dr. Jones blamed popular media at the time. Due to Ella coming from a long line of good inheritances and a few "lucky" lottery tickets, Ella was extremely wealthy, but not enough to be recognized at the time (to which Dr. Jones also blamed on media at the time), which was also bolstered by Simone's own successful blues musician career. It was Dr. Jones' personal opinion that if the major sitcom producers of the 80s and 90s had known about Ella and Simone's relationship, they would have made them the spiritual successors to The Odd Couple, partly because, if their taste in personal decorations was any indicator, Ella lavished in their collected wealth while Simone seemed to be stuck in Retro 70s "Soul Sister" style.
Simone had gotten into Project Phoenix because she had Type I diabetes and was getting closer to the point where her kidneys were starting to fail, and got Ella "sponsorship" for her conversion. While Simone had become a panther Animalian, Ella had chosen lioness. It was a little after this that both of them got diagnosed with Regressive Hypersexuality, partly because Ella had gotten nipple piercings that were more like two inch golden hoop doorknockers (to which she found the joke amusing) as well as golden caps for her dreadlocks, and Simone had rebooted her old musical career (her latest album would have her on the cover in her old performance costume, but featured her as a black panther with "matching" afro hairstyle), but what was most "notorious" about the two of them was how Simone would do her own adaptation of the song "Gold Digger" while Ella did her own very elaborate striptease.
But what prompted Dr. Jones to create a new project was their fear of "drifting apart" due to being attracted to males of their own species. But Dr. Jones managed to find two males that would help inspire something along the lines of Alcoholics Anonymous classes. The first of these, Leo Skye, was a more "recent" bodybuilder who decided to become a King Cobra as part of Project White Lily due to juicing; The second, who was a professional male escort from Las Vegas who was now an FBI-protected witness due to getting caught between rival drug gangs in Las Vegas. He was now recorded in the Project Records as Brawn (because his name was retracted by the FBI), while he worked at the Meat Market as The Brazen Bull in the newer "superhero porn" performances. Again Leo and "Brawn" were both homosexual, but found their newly awakened heterosexuality somewhat disturbing to them.
Again Dr. Jones was willing to help them out, but because his business was 'booming', he couldn't spend time with individual patients for long periods. Fortunately, one guy who was familiar with various incarnations of Alcoholics Anonymous decided to help out with the newest incarnation: Homosexual Anonymous.
