Kyle and Josh stared at each other, as both recognized the familiar brakes screech. Their dad had just driven into the driveway. "Shit! What do we do?" Kyle asked the obvious.
"We can't let him see us like this... not yet, anyways." Josh stated.
The brothers were standing in the hallway. To the left, the hallway opened up to the dinning room and adjacent kitchen. There would be little places to hide in either room, which both Kyle and Josh knew. However, there was a door in the kitchen which opened to the garage. There was plenty of their Dad's junk in the room that they might be able to hide behind. To their right, the hallway spilled open after a few feet, to the living room on the right-hand side. The stairs to the next floor, where there would be more places to hide, were also in that direction, on the left. Unfortunately, the front door was also beside the stairs. The bathroom, which they had just come from, was behind them.
Kyle turned to look at his brother in the eyes, "Well we hide then, and hope that Dad does not look for us." Worry was etched on both of their faces. They continued to stare at each other for a few long moments; Both were waiting for the other to come up with a place for them to tuck away in. "Josh... Where do we go?" Kyle finally, urgently asked when his brother remained silent. The time they had was ticking away as they just stood there.
"Fuck, I don't know..." Josh shrugged his shoulder and raised his hand, palm-up. "Um... Somewhere we can walk to quickly." Josh stated as he thought aloud. Though he knew that for them, walking was already a complicated task, and adding urgency to their steps would surely not help them move any faster. It would more likely cause them to fall.
Kyle turned his head to look over his right shoulder towards the bathroom, while Josh shifted his gaze down the hallway into the living room. Kyle figured that it would easy for one of them to pretend being on the toilet if their dad called for them. Josh, on the other hand, felt that they could easily get to the living room and stand behind one of the long, drawn curtains. Almost simultaneously, both announced, "This way!"
