"I think I have an idea," Gloria said quietly. Reiko and the others turned, anxiously awaiting what her plan was.
"Katie told me a story of how she had used the ring once to give someone a younger mindset," she said. "When she did that she only affected the persons mind without chamging them physically. Maybe I can do something similar for Mr. Tozawa."
Reiko and the others now looked eachother over quietly, pondering what Gloria had said. Finally Reiko nodded, "Lets try," she said. "I'll go get Hideo."
Reiko was only gone a moment, returning with her husband. As she guided her husband into the living room he smiled. "How are you feeling Mr. Tozawa?"
"I feel okay Gloria," he said. "A little tured from all the tests. Naomi and Reiko are the ones I'm worried about, they haven't sleot well this past week."
Gloria looked over the Tozawa family, who all had grave expressions on their faces. "I have an idea Mr Tozawa," she said. "But before I do it I want to explain everything to you."
Hideo nodded as Gloria now explained what she was thinking. Her plan was to selectively target Hideo's colon. She would regress the organ into its mid twenties while leaving him his current age. If the process worked Hideo's cancer would be erradicated and his colon would be healthier than it had been in decades. Hideo listened intently weighing his options.
"So do you see any problems resulting from this," he asked. Gloria paused, sighing she explained that she had never done anything like this before. There was a chance it might not work or worse she could accidentally regress Mr. Tozawa leaving him a young man in his twenties.
"Being in the prime of my liffe doesn't sound like a bad thing," he smirked. Reiko frowned at her hisband who quickly apologized. "Okay Gloria let's hope for the best."
Gloria nodded as she niw concentrated on Hideo's colon. Although she could not physically see what was happening she could see an image in her mind. Gloria could see the faintest image of Hideo's colon glowing, the cancer slowly shrinking away as the organ grew younger. As time continued to pass Gloria could see the organ renewing itself further. Slowly but surely it appeared to become healthier as the decades were wiped away. Finally Gloria stopped, she could picture the organ healthy and in its prime once more, no longer aged and cancerous.
"So did it work," he asked.
Gloria slowly opened her eyes, nodding at the others. "I think so," she said quietly. "We won't know for sure until you have more tests done"
Hideo, Reiko and Naomi breathed a sigh of relief as they looked at eachother. "Guess we find out tomorrow," he said.
School the next day seemed to last forever. The girls anxiously watched the clock, awaiting the final bell. Mr. Tozawa went for a follow up that morning where the doctors would examine him to determine how far the cancer had spread. If Gloria was successful, his cancer would be gone. By the time the girls got home, they found themselves racing to Naomi's house.
"Mom? Dad? Are you home," Naomi called frantically.
Gloria and her friends rushed into the kitchen to see Reiko and Hideo waiting at the kitchen table. Both adults almost in tears as the girls looked at them.
"You did it Gloria," Reiko cried, tears falling freely down her cheeks. "Hes cured."
Gloria and her friends shed tears of joy as the happily hugged eachother. Hideo Tozawa's cancer was in remission. The doctors called it a miracle stating his colon was the healthiest he had seen on a man in his 50s. As Gloria wiped tears from her eyes she looked at the happy family before her, happy to have done good.
