"Ooh pink please!" Nicola requested with mock enthusiasm. Meredith ignored her sarcastic response and passed her the vial full of cloudy, pinkish liquid with a polite smile.
"That leaves you with the white one" Meredith passed the other tube of mysterious drink to James who briefly examined it and held it to his nose as if searching for some kind of clue that it was safe to consume.
"Please, go ahead and drink. We have a lot to get through today and the effects of these may take some time to wear off" Meredith instructed kindly but firmly. To her delight there were no objections.
"Ok, cheers then. Bottoms up!" Nicola jokingly chinked her glass vial against her friends before guzzling down the pink liquid.
"Hmm, not bad. Have you got anything alcoholic?" She quipped.
"Ugh. Trust you to get the nice one" James complained, seemingly having drawn the short straw in terms of taste at least.
"Well that was easy. What's next?" Nicola asked, wanting to get this all over with as quickly as possible.
"As I said before, we should wait until the effect of these wear off before proceeding" Meredith replied patiently.
"But I don't feel anything" Nicola argued "I think you must have been ripped off"
"Actually, I'm starting to feel something" James admitted with a hint of concern.
"Oh yeah, me too now" Nicola responded, the look of sceptical amusement beginning to be replaced by one of surprise "I'm feeling tingly. Really tingly...just....sort of...like I'm...."
Meredith cackled to herself with delight as her two test subjects quickly changed right in front of her.
