A sudden realization now hit Gloria, if the ring had made everyone in the house excluding herself 20 years younger and had made Jackie 22 and Ann's best friend, then what of her other friends? Gloria quickly called the Tozawa Residence to see if Naomi was still around.
"Hello? Miss Tozawa? Is Naomi there?" Gloria asked trying to sound calm.
"Naomi? Who's Naomi?" Reiko Tozawa asked not knowing who she was talking about.
"Your daughter, that is your adopted daughter." Gloria tried to get her to remember.
"Adopted? Well Hideo and I had been considering adoption for a little bit, but how did you know about that Gloria?" Reiko asked curiously as now Gloria was getting worried.
Gloria now began calling her friend's other homes to see if she could reach anybody else. She called Jackie's family, Diane's family, Sasha's family, Felicia's family, but they all had the same response as not knowing exactly who Gloria was asking for and how she got some of their numbers.
"Ring, what happened to my friends?" Gloria asked the ring in a panic.
"Well since you all weren't around 20 years ago, they technically didn't exist yet, but don't worry, you can fix this by making it so they are all still here and could've been alive 20 years ago." The ring explained.
"How? How can I do that?" Gloria asked nervously.
"Just listen to what I tell you." The ring said as Gloria listened closely and then nodded.
"Everyone, I'm going to need some peace and quiet for a while, I've got to do something very important with the ring." Gloria said as she went to sit down with her legs crossed.
She now began to think of all her friends: Diane, Felicia, Sasha, Naomi. Now she began to think of Nate Haskins family including his brother, Adam. She concentrated very hard on all of them and herself. Since it would've have been impossible to have them be alive so many years ago, Gloria made it so they were all 22 like Jackie was and made it so that her friends remembered how the world was actually supposed to be and what she was doing with her own family.
"Gloria?! Gloria! Gloria!" Lisa said trying to shake her daughter out of her trance when it began to look like it was hurting her and then some blood began dripping out of her nose.
"Gloria! Snap out of it!" Lisa shouted and in a desperate move, she slapped her daughter on the face to break out of her trance. Gloria came out of her trance feeling weak and drained.
"I'm sorry....you were starting to bleed out from your nose. Are you okay?" Lisa asked.
"Yeah, I've just never used that much power with the ring before. But I had to do something to save me and my friends." Gloria said looking at her current 22 year-old body.
"So....the good news is my friends and I aren't going to be wiped out of existence any time soon. But the bad news is mom, that whatever you and grandma have going on between you two, you have to settle it yourselves, because I am not doing it for you." Gloria explained as she now went to sit down and Ann began to comfort her.
"I can't believe you would let your own daughter have such a dangerous thing." Marilyn said shaking her head.
"She can use it better than me. Yeah, I've used that thing before and believe me, it's not easy." Lisa argued.
"Please, a little trinket like that? You just have to have...."
"Time and Patience, that's the key, I guarantee." Marilyn, Lisa, and Ann all said.
"Well it looks like you remembered my motto." Marilyn said impressed.
"Yeah, I remembered it. But I don't follow it down to the letter like you do. You can always find your way around something if you look hard enough." Lisa said.
"Yes, but there's a wrong way of doing things and there's a right way of doing things." Marilyn argued back.
"You mean your way?" Lisa asked.
"Yes, my." Marilyn replied.
"No, you mean grandma's way, and no matter how much you try to deny it, you're still under her thumb." Lisa said crossing her arms.
"I....you....now listen....I'm going back to the kitchen." Marilyn said as she knew she'd lost that argument.
