"Too close..." Josh agreed. Carefully, they stepped around curtains. Josh pointed to the closest couch, not needing to say his desire to rest for a moment. "Careful, we need to slowly..." Josh was cut off when they unceremoniously fell backwards into the couch. He placed his only hand on the armrest beside him while Kyle rubbed the back of his head. There was a minute of silence between them before Josh spoke, "We can't go on like this. We need to find a way to get apart."
"Yeah... Don't take this the wrong way, but you did destroy our only clue." Kyle reminded his brother about his hasty attempt at separating them. 'For all we know, that made our condition permanent...' Kyle smartly said to himself; he did not want to get into another fight.
"There has to be something else... Anything else. Was there a note or a receipt?"
Kyle shrugged his shoulder. "No, only the box that they came in."
"Well... Lets check that..." Josh forced himself not to abruptly stand. "Unless... you have another idea?" When Kyle shook his head in response, he insisted, "We might as well look at the box then."
With both in agreement, they made the slow trek from the living room and into Kyle's bedroom. The stairs were a particularly difficult challenge, but as they verbalized their movements to each other, the brothers were able to climb to the second floor without tripping or falling. Kyle's room was just as he left it. The walls were steel grey in color with several posters on the walls. A pile of clothe laid beside his closet. He had a computer in the far corner, and his bed along the close side. The box, in question, was still on his desk.
When Kyle opened the box, a small card was sitting inside. "That was not there before." Kyle said, even as Josh rolled his eyes.
"Whatever." Josh said as he grabbed the card. He had difficulty trying to open it, until Kyle used his hand to assist. It resembled something like a brief ad for the mysterious business. It contained several coupons for purchasing other items, and curiously, for repairing or replacing broken artifacts. On the back was the contact information of the shop and a website address to shop online. "Look, here is the number for the shop. We need to call, now."
"He was not that much help." Kyle replied, thinking back to his conversation with the owner. "I came in looking for a trinket or souvenir for Dave, to help end the tension." Josh was aware of the fallout between his brother and his old friend. "The guy said something about the chains making the two people who wear them closer. He obviously was speaking in more literal terms, not figuratively like I had believed."
"So what? You want to stay attached to me?" Josh raised his hand, palm-side up.
"No, obviously not. I'm just saying we need to be careful." Kyle looked back and forth from the card to his brother. "Why don't we look online first; the url is right there. Hopefully the descriptions are better in writing."
After a few moments, the brothers concluded on a course of action.
