Fuming over the embarrassment Jake rushed after the kid and the watch registered him:

Jake went to tap the down button, but as he was following after the kid he wasn't looking where he was going. He crashed right into a group of people and got knocked to the ground, and in the ensuing mess he unknowingly tapped the up button AND the ADJUST button. "Watch where you're going kid!" one of the guys yelled at him.
"Sorry, sorry," Jake apologized, the boys he hit being about sixteen; four years his elder.
After another bout of apologies the older boys carried on and Jake finally turned his attention to the kid, who was sitting at one of the tables in the food court with his mom, and Jake couldn't help but notice a large bulge in the kid's jeans. Confused Jake looked down to the watch and saw that it now read '108 INCHES (9 feet)' for this kid. So now not only was this kid bigger than him now, but he was way bigger than his original size. "Aw shit," Jake muttered.
At least the kid couldn't make fun of him this time.
