She decides to resist her urges and moves to leave the home. She moves carefully and slowly to the door. Her head down and submissive. The human watches her with wary eyes, his entire body tense. The gun was never once pointed anywhere but at her. Suddenly she hears the sound of her foot stepping on a picture frame. Surprised, her eyes dart to it, before suddenly her whole body goes still.
The human, Adam, got annoyed that the freak stopped, but was driven to anger when he saw what the beast stepped on. A picture of himself and his sister, Anna. Their parents had died shortly after he graduated college and he ended up taking care of her while she attended the nearby university. She spend the weekends at his house when she could and had lived a few miles away in her dorm, when the outbreak hit. He found her torn clothes in her apartment when went to find her, and knew then what had happened to her. That picture was one of the only two he had left of Anna. "Get away from that you monster," Adam screamed. He was about to go ahead and blow the dog's head off, until something strange occurred.
She was completely oblivious to Adam's reaction. Her eyes just stared at the girl in the photo, her face seemed so familiar. It hurt. All of a sudden, her head ached. Thoughts flashed by in her mind. Images, sounds, smells, laughter, love, joy. They all seem to fill her head. It was too much. Unable to handle the pain in silence, she threw her head to the ground and began to whine in pain. Her paws clawed at her head, desperate to make the pain stop. It grew until it was too much and she fell into unconscious sleep.
Adam watched in shock as the human turned dog, collapse and began to writhe on the floor. It gripped its head with its paws and seemed to be trying to claw at its mind. The pain seemed to overwhelm the beast, as it collapsed. Adam was confused and rightfully nervous. What should he do? It would probably be best to just kill the poor soul and put them to rest. The gun might attract more of them, so he decided to slit the dog's throat while it slept. Being careful not to wake it, he gently crept toward the dog. He gun at the ready, just in case, as he used his free hand to grip his knife and slowly brought it closer. He learned that the dog was female upon closer inspection. He had almost brought his knife to her neck when he stopped dead in his tracks. There on the inside of what use to be the dog's wrist, was a small tattoo. It was a crescent moon next to a blazing sun. Inside the sun was the name Adam and the moon held the name Anna. That was his sister's tattoo. She had shown it to him the last time she visited, and even told him that he was her sun. She was grateful that he had taken care of her, after they lost their parents. This dog was his sister. What was he suppose to do?
