As everyone was talking with each other, Jackie noticed Ann quietly slipping away upstairs and into one of the bedrooms. Jackie went after her and went upstairs to the room she was behind and knocked on the door.
"Ann? Are you okay?" Jackie asked from behind the door.
"Go away, Jackie." Ann said from behind the door.
"Ann, please, let me come in." Jackie politely urged as she heard Ann say 'okay' as Jackie opened the door and quietly shut it behind her and locked it so they wouldn't be disturbed.
Ann was sitting on the bed with her head down towards the floor and Jackie came over and sat down next to her.
"Aren't holidays supposed to be a time for happiness?" Ann asked Jackie.
"I....I think so. I mean what happened down there was nuts and I definitely won't repeat a word of it to anyone else."
"I still have a niece, but I lost my mom in the process, is that fair? I'll love her just as much, but still...I....I can't believe she's gone." Ann said as she began crying and Jackie placed her arm around Ann's shoulders as she started crying more.
"I know, I know.....I don't know what I would do if I ever lost you. There are lots of people I care about and love in this world, but I do love you Ann, more than you know." Jackie said to Ann comforting her.
Ann soon began to stop crying and then she looked into Jackie's eyes as Jackie looked back at her and they both slowly leaned in and began kissing one another on the lips. At first it was a small kiss, but then it became more and more passionate as the minutes passed by them and before they knew it, twenty full minutes had passed.
"I love you Ann O'Toole." Jackie whispered to Ann.
"I love you too Jackie Kirkman." Ann whispered back to Jackie.
"I want to hold your hand as we walk on the beach during a moonlight walk." Jackie said.
"I want us to ride the Ferris wheel so when we get to the top, I can shout to the world how much I love you." Ann said as they both giggled quietly and then began to stop.
"But.....how can we possibly do any of this? We're like star crossed lovers here." Jackie asked as they both gazed at the floor and just held each other tightly trying to figure out a way for their relationship to work out.
