“Oh crap it’s 7:30,” said Carter,
“So??” Said Quinn,
“The bus is here,” he looks out his window,
“Well I can change it, we’ve been making it work so I can do it,”
“No don’t, you’ll hurt the other kids,” he keeps looking, “Damn it’s gone,”
“Well where are we going then??”
“To school!! It’s Wednesday,”
“Well can we walk there??”
“I guess,” he sighs, “But it will take like an half an hour, that is if we’re quick,”
“Well we can try,” they both walked out the house and started walking, Quinn continued to change the rubber duck. She hadn’t perfected changing things completely but had nearly perfected changing the size of things.
They arrived after 45 minutes and luckily most of the kids hadn’t entered their classes. As Carter walked in he realised how much he stood out, he was walking into school with a girl who had bright blue hair, pink lips, and clothes that he had worn before. He walked up to his locker with most people looking at him but luckily people were still talking. Up behind him approached a kid named Joel, he was a douchebag and made fun of Carter quite a lot,
“So who’s this then..” directed at Carter, then looked up at Quinn, “You look pretty dumb with your blue hair, and.. is that this kids clothes on, did you two do it last night of something,” his friends laughing behind him, “dude you did it with an alien last night, dude we are so gonna’ tell everyone,”
“We didn’t have sex, Joel,” he looked at him sarcastically, “I lent my clothes because I had spares and hers were torn and dirty,” he grabbed Quinn by her arm and dragged her to his first class. The rumour that he had sex with Quinn spread fast, and nobody even knew her name. His first few classes were a blur until lunch, he sat at his usual table alone, but also with Quinn, a person approached them with a dark blue hoodie and black hair.
“So is it true??” Said the person,
“Oh hey River, no I didn’t do it, she was round my house so I lent my clothes to her,”
“So what’s your name??” River asked Quinn,
“I’m Quinn,”
“Where you from??”
“I’m not from here, I’m not from—“
“—She’s not from around here, she just moved in yesterday and our parents are now friends,”
“Really??” River said with one eyebrow raised, “why would she stay round you house if she moved in yesterday. And she can’t have stayed because they don’t have a house because you said moved in, who is she really,”
“Okay fine you win, I’m gonna sound mental but I found her and picked her up, show River what you can do Quinn,”
“On what??” Said Quinn,
“This fork,” River said jokingly, before her eyes, the fork increased in size, 5 inches bigger in all directions, “Woah!! That’s so cool!!”
Carter and River spoke about it and other things, leaving Quinn out of it desiring more to it, but never spoke up.
It was the end of the day, Carter was waiting for the bus when Quinn was nowhere to be seen, he reached for his phone in his pocket but then remembered that Quinn didn’t have a phone but found a piece of paper. He opened it and he read,
“Hello Carter, I’m not going to come with you on the bus home or return home with you, I may return later on but for now I will be exploring around, see you later, - Quinn,”
Carter returned home to a very clean bedroom with another note telling him that she’d cleaned it back to its original state.
Quinn walked to the nearby library, before she went in she looked at the people inside and changed her hair so it was ginger, she made herself some glasses and her clothes changed to a smart button up shirt and smart looking pants. She spent the whole night there reading about normal life and by the end of it understood what she should do what she shouldn’t do, she now knew what was and wasn’t normal. She understood what and wasn’t attractive to the average person, she even understood what was considered cool and how to be it. She for the rest of the night practiced her powers. She learned how to move things with her mind, create things out of nothing (which included clothing) change one thing to another, and how to change people and herself in small details or large details, but hadn’t worked out how to change people mentally yet since she hadn’t anyone to practice on.
Now with her newfound knowledge of the ‘real world’ she decided that she would..
