I slapped my hand over my mouth. "I wish she had them back!" I said in a hurry.
Her clothes reappeared. She stared down at herself for a moment, then pinched herself.
I glanced back and forth along the street - no cars coming for the moment. It wasn't the busiest street downtown, anyway. I hurried across as she walked to a nearby bench in a daze, under a tree hanging over the fence that bordered the large pedestrian area she'd been in. Someone else in a purple vest and skirt hurried up to her as I was nearing her.
"Are you alright?" the lady in purple asked.
"Um," the lady I'd disrobed stared at her.
I caught up to them. "Are you ok?"
She stared at me. "I felt... like... my clothes disappeared..." she said slowly.
"They did! I saw it!" the lady in purple said. "I'm Susan, by the way. That looked so scary! Do you have any idea what happened?"
The woman on the bench widened her eyes, glancing briefly to me, and she pulled her legs up onto the bench, wrapping her arms around her knees. "Umm. Magic? I don't know," she said. "I'm Kathy." She looked at me.
"Um, hi, I'm Chloe. I'm sorry, umm," I hesitated. "I -- just got this magic ring --"
Susan's eyes widened too and she took a step backwards, an expression of shock on her face.
"-- and I was being flippant! I didn't think it would *work*!" I whined.
Susan closed her mouth. "I'm ashamed that you would have such thoughts about another woman. Can you give me the ring, please?"
Kathy was curled up on the bench in fright, her jean-covered legs held tightly to her ample chest. Now it was my turn to widen my eyes. "Absolutely not! I wish you'd forget about the ring, both of you. I wish you'd both forget anything strange happened and move on with your days."
Kathy and Susan both blinked at me.
"Nice to-- meet -- you?" Susan said haltingly. "I'll, umm," she turned, "be going now," she walked away quickly.
Kathy put her feet on the ground. "Umm, hi, you said you were Chloe?"
"Yep, that's my name!" I said in a a relieved tone. I took a seat next to her, brushing my wispy layered skirt up so I wouldn't squash it as I sat. "I saw you were feeling kind of distressed."
Kathy nodded. "I'm not sure why. Thank you for coming to check on me."
I smiled. "My pleasure. What are you up to?"
"Umm," Kathy said again. "I'm just out shopping. Or window shopping, really, I can't afford fashion right now, it's just an excuse to get out of the house --" she slapped a hand over her mouth. "I'm sorry, I'm just out shopping," she squeaked.
I looked at her with pity in my eyes. "Aww, go on?"
"It's just my mom and dad," she said.
I waited for her to continue, but she just stared at her hands, now resting on her lap. "What about them?"
A breeze passed through the tree above us. "I was supposed to have moved out to college by now, but I'm still at home, and they fight all the time and look at me like I'm a failure," she said quietly.
I felt my throat tighten and my eyes water. "Aww, honey," I said. "Would you like a hug?"
She nodded hard, her eyes watering and her lip quivering. I scooted over to her and pulled her into a hug. "I was fine a few minutes ago," she said quietly, as she buried her face in my - well, my boobs, really. "I'm not sure what came over me."
I glanced away, biting my lip lightly. "That sucks. I wish you were feeling better and knew of something you could do about your situation," I said.
She sniffled into my chest. "I guess I do have one idea, now that you mention it," she said. "I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. My uncle has a lot of money and is one of my best friends in my family,” she sniffled again, "he always told me to come to him with things like this." She sighed and sat up, pulling out her phone. "Do you have Facebook?" she asked, as she turned it on.
She was still lying on my chest, my blouse and bra not doing that much to separate her from my fairly large boobs, as she started to dial her uncle.
