Because you’re not completely ursine and have human intelligence, you manage to evade the hunter who has followed you back to the cave. You hear him cursing that he didn’t catch you and you’ll probably starve to death now. However, you survive where most cubs wouldn’t because you are intelligent. You remember that adult male bears tend kill and eat unattended cubs and you manage to avoid them while ‘pilfering’ from human settlements on the outskirts of cities.
As you grow, you notice you’re not like the other bears. Your paws develop into useable hands and you become bipedal. Your feet and hands have very thick nails that curve down into claws if they are not trimmed.. By your third year, you could roughly pass for human if someone wasn’t looking too closely, but your bear heritage is still very prominent. You’re a very stocky 6’4” with a barreled chest, well muscled limbs and hair all over. Your ‘fur’ has thinned to acceptable human levels, though you are on the hairy side of human and you have a decidedly ursine ‘musk’ about you. Your full beard looks reasonable enough, though it is very full, very bushy and high on your cheeks. Your strong arms and legs are not that unusual, but you possess strength that men of your size would not have in those hybrid limbs. Your teeth are sharp and your nose is broad and a little strange looking for a human. Your ears have tufts of hair in them and your eyebrows grow together.
You wear clothes you’ve stolen from clothes lines or have taken from camp sites. It helps you to blend in. People don’t see a bear man, they see a bearish man when looking at you from a distance.
You remember the man who shot your mother, you remember his smell the most, but his face is very clear too. You hope to meet up with the hunter now that bear season is once again here.
One day, not far from where your mother was shot, you see the hunter waiting to shoot another bear while hiding in the underbrush.
