After a summer of fun, excitement, and adventure, it was time for the students of Animalia and Lyre to head back to school. Though things were different from last year. Building the Worldwide School of Animalia had inadvertently created some controversy with how Animalian students were being taught separately from human students. Ironically, Heather's misguided attack helped bridge the gap between the schools. Animalian students were allowed to return to Lyre High and during the summer break, WSA was being refitted to accommodate human students a little better. But more importantly, a third school facility has been built that can house both humans and Animalians.
Still, WSA was mainly used by the bigger Animalians, the ones that could unintentionally crush someone by accident. With the reintegration between Lyre High and WSA as well as the new building, there were going to be a few changes about who will be going where. Though for the sake of convenience, the Animalian students were gather at WSA's auditorium to hear Principal Marigold's announcement to the students.
In a way, Eliza was sad that Beth wasn't among the students here anymore. But she had gone on to UNLV and was living at the Pi Eta Tau fraternity. Still, she had some good times with Beth this summer, including their camping trip. And as Beth has teased, she wouldn't get in trouble if she and Lizzie used the shower at WSA.
"Students, I'm glad to see you all here today," said Eliza, "For some of you, I'm your new principal. For others, I used to be their principal or they're only here for this announcement. Though I'm rather glad I'm not everyone's principal. For one thing, there's far too many of you for me to keep track of." There were a few chuckles from the crowd. "However, I'm also thankful that we're able to come together again with our human neighbors. We built WSA to accommodate ourselves. But in specializing our school, we inadvertently separated ourselves. Thankfully, we saw the problems of keeping our schools separated from each could cause. So whichever school you end up attending, I want you all to be working with your human classmates."
It wasn't as long as her speech to the graduation class, but it was enough. It may take a while for the school year to really start, particularly with Labor Day coming up. But Eliza was certain she'd be able to handle running the school without any students acting up. Or at least not too many.
