Now though Damon said he wouldn't be drinking again
these are the early 1870s in the American frontier we're talking about, when gangs of dragons were used to fly in the loads of railroad ties and metal rails to the ever advancing ribbon of rilway tracks that would one day unite the east and west of
the United Draconic States.
Booze was plentiful in those transient human railroad camps and the humans were not above offering dragons kegs of booze
in lieu of more useful things such as
silver and gold coins.
Now Skyslinings husband Exagarr avoided the stuff but he'd noticed Damon lurching around drunk in the human camps with other drunken dragon
labourers, rather then heading back to Thoren each night.
Thoren herself was noticing that her husband was coming home to their logcavern more infrequently, and he seemed to be handing over
less of the silver and gold coins they would need to raise a dragon family.
So it was one long weekend and Damon did not return to the logcavern.
When Thoren saw her sister Skyslining and her husband Exegarr wing in,Thoren knew
something had happened to Damon.
