"Now the thing to remember" Sithathor reminded Ashley for the hundredth time, "is that my parents are very pious. The main reason they accepted my transformation is that it was the will of a goddess. They know you're not particularly godly, but they're going to expect you to follow the rituals of worshippers of the Egyptian gods."
Dealing with humans, Ashley thought, was one of the most difficult things about the metamorphosis. The simple fact was that the 800 pound body of a male minotaur intimidated people, and unless they were close friends like Monica had been it could be hard to bridge that gap. Even Sithathor, who her fellow minotaurs would describe as "a little cutie" was bigger and stronger than nearly all unaltered humans. Minotaurs and other large New People like bearmorphs and elephantpeople were used to the idea of not showing anger in public, so as not to freak out the normals. Talking to Sithathor and doing the online research that was second nature to people in Ashley's time, Sithathor's parents seemed like fine people, and the last thing Ashley wanted to do was intimidate them, but it might not be possible to avoid.
Add the normal, unchanged in five hundred years "meeting your girlfriend's folks for the first time" jitters, and Ashley was a little nervous.
"Don't be silly" said Sithathor, as they waited at the front porch for her parents to answer the door, "everything is going to be fine."
