Animalian House

added by Alphagor 5 years ago O

WSA wasn't the only school being expanded upon. The city of Las Vegas has a rather close relationship with Animalia. Granted, it might be partially rooted in tourism and profit, but they have shown a lot of support as Animalia developed. And in the last semester, Animalian students were welcomed to the University of Las Vegas. There weren't too many at first, namely Tiffany, Princess, Maddie, and Sylvia. But more will be coming, fresh from WSA. And considering some Animalians tended to range in sizes and masses larger than humans, UNLV was going to need more room for them.

What had started out as a joke idea last year became a reality. A new co-ed fraternity building was built for Animalian and human roommates. The fraternity that will be using the house will be known at Pi Eta Tau. Of course, there has been some confusion with the name. Some people mistakenly use the Greek letter Rho in the spelling as it resembled a 'P' more closely than Pi, even though they were distinctly different letters. Others misspell Eta as 'Etta'. Though since the fraternity will be more often referred to as 'PET House' or 'Animal House', it wasn't a very high concern.

Anyways, there were other things to work on after the President himself approved the charter on the condition that the Animalia virus not be used in any hazing rituals or initiation rituals. Since hazing in general has been reproved throughout the country, that wasn't a hard thing to ban. Anyways, they had more important things to do, such as draft the motto and rules for the fraternity. The motto was simple, 'Ex natura, transit ad sapientiam', which meant 'From nature, we rise to wisdom'.

The officer structure of the Phi Eta Tau fraternity was a bit unusual. For the time being, there were only three officers: President, Vice President, and Treasurer. The roles they had were also unusual. The President's job was external affairs, meaning being the public face and voice for the house and speaking with the college officials, other fraternities, etc. The Vice President's job was internal affairs, namely that all the members were obeying the rules and not causing trouble. The Treasurer was in charge of financial affairs, monitoring the fraternity's funds and organizing fund-raising events and charities. The officers meet to discuss current conditions and business and each had the power to call another's decision into question and have it debated. This structure was to ensure no one was greater than all.

Being elected to officer was also irregular. Instead of candidates being nominated for one of the positions, the fraternity members chose among themselves who to support within their species group. By rule, the three officers had to consist of one mammal (which also included humans), one bird, and one reptile. Amphibians and fish were to be categorized under reptiles unless new officer roles were created. Once the fraternity members have voted for their preferred candidate from each species group, the three would decide among themselves who'll be President, Vice President, or Treasurer. All terms ended at the same time and a new election will be held. This should keep the officer roles from becoming associated with one species group. For their first officers, Tiffany and Sylvia will be filling in as President and Treasurer respectively. A red-tailed hawk Animalian, a newcomer to the fraternity, will be doing the role of Vice President.

The oath of Phi Eta Tau was given much thought before being presented:
'I solemnly pledge to respect the rights of others.
I choose to look past and not judge by a person's sex, gender, age, race, religion, or disabilities.
I swear to care for all equally, whether they be human, beast, fish, or fowl.
I believe in the principle of equality for all and swear to do my best to help others as I would help myself.
Upon my honor, I will uphold my duty to my brothers and sisters and give my support where it is needed.'

While there was room for growth and change, it was a sound enough foundation for the co-ed fraternity. Considering how many Animalians will be in this fraternity and the nickname of their house, there were many who were expecting to be wild parties going on.
