"You don't understand. I hid the medallion in the glove compartment of the car."
"You mean the medallion was stolen along with the car? Why did you put it there?" I said, more and more hysterical, standing up.
If they didn't find the car, I was stuck like this forever!
"Because I knew you'd search the house," Mary said. "Mike, I'm really, really sorry."
I collapsed back into the chair, crying now. I'd noticed I had more of a propensity to cry and now I knew why. I was turning into a compete girl and now it looked like there was no way to change back.
"Mike, look at the bright side. At least you'll probably be a very pretty girl."
I just looked at her.
"Besides," Mary went on, "I always wanted a little sister."
