Jessica wasn't really ready to believe the program worked, but it would be a fun way to kill some time at the very least. At most all she expected it to do was generate a funny picture or something like that. She scrolled the program, looking at the different options. Strangely enough not all of them were purely physical, there were options for sexuality, sex drive, even a fetish menu and personality inputs. Very strange. Maybe there was more to the program than she'd first thought.
"They really thought of everything," she laughed, looking through a few of the stranger menus before going back to the main one, "How about a physical change?"
"Sure," Nikki rolled her eyes, "I'll believe it when I see it."
"That's the plan," Jessica responded, checking the different package options as well as the custom setting, "Want to do a preset option or a do-it-yourself?"
"Let's go all out," Nikki laughed, "Custom all the way and go wild with it."
"Suit yourself," Jessica selected the Custom option, typed in Nikki's name and was shocked when her friend's height, weight, age, sex, sexuality and a number of other details automatically filled in, "Whoa!"
"Very funny," Nikki laughed, "Are you trying to trick me or something by having already created a file for me?"
"No," Jessica shook her head. New options appeared, none of which looked particularly interesting so she filled them in quickly, not bothering to look too much into what they meant. She kept most of them at the default, reality was set to adjust, subject awareness was off, user awareness was on and changes would be applied as they were selected. Her preferences were saved and then the option to initiate changes became available. There were a large number of them, more than she'd first noticed, "Where do you want to start?"
"Animal," Nikki picked an option at random.
Jessica opened it. There were options for full and partial, the implications being that full would turn the subject fully into an animal, with or witohut retaining their human mind and intelligence, and that partial could turn someone into a blend of human and animal or allow for the selection of specific traits. She selected partial and a new window opened allowing her to enter an animal with the option to select specfic features. It seemed that the program was a lot more complicated than it appeared and that alone was intriguing. Whatever the the purpose of it all, someone had put a lot of work into it.
Not sure of where to go from there Jessica looked at her friend. Nikki shrugged and went with the first thing that came to mind, "Deer."
Jessica typed it in and a number of different deer species came up. Scrolling through she selected 'white tailed' because it sounded interesting, "Anything particular you'd like?"
"Antlers," Nikki offered, "That should be noticeable."
Jessica typed in antlers and a notice came up, 'Testosterone needed for optimum antler growth - Adjust to allow? Y/N?' Puzzled by the option she clicked yes, which brought up a new set of options. Reading through them quickly she selected to allow for testosterone production at a level of 50% male to 50% female hormones while maintaining the subject's current sex and sexual preferences, whatever that meant. Several more options for awareness and reality became available and she clicked through them without paying much attention since they didn't seem terribly important. Finally she was able to click to accept and initiate changes, which she did. A loading bar popped up on the screen.
"I guess when it's done it'll make a picture or something," Jessica offered, not sure what else might happen.
Nikki absentmindedly scratched at her head, watching at the loading bar slowly progressed, "Maybe. I'll admit it's a lot more complicated than I thought."
Something about her friend's voice made Jessica turn around to look at her. There was something off about Nikki, but she couldn't place it at first. Nikki's long, blond hair seemed pushed out of place, but that might have been from her scratching at her head. No, it was something about her face. Beneath her makeup her features seemed less soft than normal. There was something about the angle of her jaw and nose, something slightly different along her brow.
"What?" Nikki demanded, the slight drop in the pitch of her voice lost on Jessica due to the twin nubs that were visible through Nikki's hair.
Two fuzzy, brown spikes no more than an inch long were emerging from Nikki's hair. Nikki brushed her fingers against them and frowned, "What are you staring at?"
"You've..." Jessica trailed off when she realized that Nikki seemed to be fully aware of the antlers, but she wasn't reacting in any way, that and the spikes weren't the only difference. Nikki looked taller, wider across the shoulders and maybe, just maybe her breasts were smaller, "Do you notice anything different about yourself?"
Nikki looked herself over, bringing her hands to her head to feel the spikes, which were now two inches long, "Not really. I mean my antlers have started growing in, but that's not really a surprise, is it?"
"Not a surprise?" Jessica repeated, shocked by what she was seeing and hearing. The Chronivac actually worked! And Nikki had no clue what was happening to her. Which raised the question, what was happening to her? Yes, she was growing antlers, but there was much more going on. The way she had her arms raised made it clear that her shoulders were wider and her breasts were smaller, having shrunk from a weighty b-cup to an unmistakable a.
"Yeah," Nikki rolled her eyes, "They've started a bit early this year, but other than that nothing's out of the ordinary. So, have you decided what you want to do with this stupid computer thing or are we going to sit around and do nothing all day?"
Jessica stared at her friend, struggling to process what she was hearing and seeing. They'd spent a good ten minutes setting up Nikki's change, but she clearly didn't recall any of it. Even crazier was the fact that it was actually happening and Nikki didn't seem to think it was anything unusual. In fact she was acting like she'd been the way she was all along, complete with antlers. With that in mind Jessica looked back at the computer screen, some of the options she'd selected finally starting too make sense. Looking back over what she'd clicked she saw that user awareness was on, as was the option for reality to adjust while subject awareness was off. That was likely the reason Nikki was acting like nothing had happened. And if she'd clicked for user awareness to be off...
Jessica looked at her roommate and shuddered at the thought. Nikki's antlers were about four inches long now and had started to branch so that a smaller prong was coming off of the base. In addition Nikki's shoulders looked a little wider, possibly to help support the weight of her still growing antlers, though that wouldn't explain why her breasts had clearly shrunk so that they were barely an a-cup and there seemed to be a good layer of muscle beneath them. Yes, Jessica decided as she looked at Nikki's arms, she had become more muscular all over and maybe taller too, though it was hard to tell since she was sitting and Nikki was standing.
"So?" Nikki urged, her voice decidedly different now, sounding more like that of a teenage boy just entering puberty.
That thought made it all click for Jessica, the testosterone was behind the other changes, she'd selected for Nikki's body to produce testosterone at the programs suggestion and it was masculinizing her.
"I...umm..." Jessica looked up at Nikki, her eyes falling on the increasingly impressive antlers she was sporting. They were over six inches long now, gracefully arced and possessing three distinct prongs with the promise of more, "What were you thinking of trying?"
Nikki's expression grew thoughtful, "I'm not sure. I've always been fond of deer for obvious reasons, but if this thing is supposed to make a picture of me that resembles an animal or something maybe I should go for something different."
"Not just animals," Jessica reminded, looking at her friend's still changing body. The fine hairs on Nikki's arms had grown longer, thicker and more abundant and it was difficult to tell with how long Nikki's hair was, but it looked like she might have been growing sideburns as well, "It can do anything."
"Anything..." Nikki pondered this, rubbing carefully at the base of her left antler, "Anything if it works."
"Trust me, it works," Jessica laughed, only sounding slightly nervous. The changes to Nikki's body seemed to have stopped and the growth of her antlers had slowed as well, leaving them just under a foot long with three prongs each, with a hint of a forth on the left antler.
"Alright," Niki smirked, "Let's go for an animal change then."
"What animal?" Jessica's fingers hovered above the keys, ready to re-select deer.
