Setting: during their training in the thieves school The new friends decide to learn more about each other
The group:Sara, Jack, Mai, and Vect talk about their ambitions and desires.
"So Jack, what do you want to be when you get older," asked Sara as they sat at the dining table at the school.
"I want to be a great hero when I grow up, but I've got to earn more money to pay for fighters classes so I'm here," responded Jack, motioning to the school around him.
"But what about you Mai?"
"I'm in a similar position to you, earn money during these classes and then join the mages classes. I wanna help defend my village," said Mia proudly.
Jack turned to Sara, "and you?"
Sara shifted uncomfortably, "I just wanna stay hidden. I'm a succubus, so chances are someone will try to hunt me down, so I need to learn how to stay hidden better. After this I might try some fighters classes to be able to defend myself."
"Vect, you're being awfully quiet. What are you going to do? Vect? VECT!" The high elf jumped to attention when Jack called his name.
"Sorry I was just in deep thought," said Vect as he relaxed a little. After a few seconds he answered, " I'm going to fighters classes after I'm done here for archery and then possibly the mages classes, and some noble classes." His mood grew somber, "then I'll probably return home to marry my fiancee."
"WAIT, you're engaged? But you're just a kid," said Mia in suprise.
"My parents have set this up when I was born. Go learn these specific skills, then return home, marry, and assume my title as Lord of the Fairway Forrest Region."
Jack closed his eyes and sighed, "I should have realised it before, Vect Whitewood; heir to the Whitewood baroney."
"I'm not surprised you didn't realise it, it's a small region, but I still have a duty to fulfill. I'm expected to wed a high elf of noble standing and 'keep the bloodline pure'," vect said the last sentence with clear mockery trying to imitate some aristocrat.
"Have you even met your future wife?"
"No, it wouldn't really matter anyway."
"But can't you get out of it? Shouldn't you choose your own path, we all have," asked Sara.
"No I have a duty to my people and my family. Would you turn your back on your family?"
They sat in silence, thinking hard.
"I thought so. Let's talk about something else please."
They changed topic and the mood got happier as they talked through their dinner and they enjoyed the moment they could all share together.
