Puck hovered over one of the youngest humans, a blonde boy hugging a stuffed toy. Reaching into the child's thoughts, the fairy giggled even though the dream revealed would take a lot to accomplish. This skinny little human dreamed of being a lion, prowling the African veldt with his brother - except that the 'brother' was some cartoon creation named Simba. So, the boy liked lions? It was tempting to transform the child and leave him among the other humans, but that was likely to result in a number of deaths. While the fae could be wicked, even cruel, none would cause actual death. Sure, death could come sooner than expected - one littering camper became a cloud of mayflies that were all gone within a week. However, there were other ways.
Benjamin stirred in his sleep, hugging the worn stuffed lion closer. In his dream, Mr. Pickles looked just like Simba from the Lion King, and they were roaming around the Pride Lands. Curiously, Mr. Pickles started to change, looking more real, until he was more like Aslan, the big lion in the Narnia movies. Benjamin felt odd himself, and twisted around to see his own realistic golden fur and felt muscles he had never had before. The dream was very realistic, and he accepted it happily.
Puck watched as an almost fully-furred human boy started to get bigger, his body maturing as it changed species. The sleeping bag he was in crumbled away and the floor around it started to sprout long grasses. The boy next to him grunted and rolled over, scratching at his arm with fingers that were hardening into cloven hooves. Another boy, older and darker, was gaining the same golden fur as Benjamin, while the human adult's face pushed outward in a deer-like muzzle. As Puck continued the magic, the cabin floor softened into dirt covered with lush tall grasses, and a gnarled, twisted tree grew up. The single overhead light bulb got brighter and hotter, becoming an intense sun in a cloudless sky. Clothing, sleeping bags, and all the other human objects disappeared. The adult was identifiable as a female wildebeest, with the smallest human now matured into fully grown male wildebeest. The darkest of the children was missing, now in the womb of the female as an unborn wildebeest calf. The former blonde boy was now a mature male lion, with the remaining two human children finishing up as mature lionesses.
Puck could feel reality stretching, the bubble of Africa he had created pushing outward. There was a sudden 'op,' and then Puck was back in the now-empty cabin. Somewhere in the wilds of Africa, three new lions and three new wildebeasts popped into existence. They would be confused at first, which would give the prey animals time to escape. But as time passed, the new animals would forget their human lives and become the beasts in all ways.
