Jason followed Kelly, accompanied by the right half of her mother to the ticket counter.
"One child and half an adult for Green Princess, please," the half-mother said to the clerk.
"Alright, is that for the 3D session?"
"Yes."
"Okay, that'll be 11 bucks."
He looked at the prices, and, after doing the math, figured out that in this new reality, half people would get a 50% discount (full price for adults was 10 dollars, children's prices were 6 dollars). "Maybe I should do this to myself and save some money", he thought.
As he was thinking about the implications of this new reality, the half-mother got her purse out and handed the money over. The clerk then handed out 3D glasses to Kelly and the half-mother.
"Now, since you've only got one eye at the moment, your glasses will just allow you to clear up the blurry image and watch the film like a normal 2D movie. I hope that's okay with you."
"That's fine. I'm not that big into 3D anyway."
The half-mother then took Kelly to the candy bar, got some popcorn and a couple of drinks, then entered the cinema.
Jason had actually heard largely positive reviews of The Green Princess, so he decided he would also buy a ticket. As he entered the cinema, he found a free seat on the half-mother's non-existant left.
"Hey, do you mind if I sit here?" he asked her.
"No, not at all."
It was here he could get a good look at what the severed side looked like - it was basically all smooth skin, which made her resemble a fleshy silhouette when viewed from the left. He were curious as to what kept her clothes on, but then again, that would be like asking how she was able to walk with one leg, or how she could speak with only half a mouth, half a tongue and half a voice box.
Whilst Jason tried to keep his focus on the movie, as to avoid conspicuously staring at the half-mother, he still couldn't help but notice some oddities out of the corner of his eye. Occasionally, her glasses would tilt to the left, since there was no support to keep them up. She was also surprisingly neat when she ate and drank. She had to have smaller portions of popcorn due to only having half a mouth, but she rarely spilled anything, and because she was drinking through a straw, there was no risk of accidentally spilling liquid. Jason was curious if she could drink from a cup traditionally designed for a whole mouth without spilling anything.
Once the movie ended, the half-mother took Kelly out, whilst Jason just quietly observed them.
