Jason suddenly heard a familiar voice calling his name. Jason quickly hid the hilt under his pillow before his mother opened his bedroom door.
"I just got off the phone with Lucy." she said. "Her parents are going on a business trip for the next two weeks, and she asked if she could stay over here in the meantime."
"Oh, cool!" Jason said. Even without the katana, he was happy to hear about seeing his cousin again. She was only a year younger than him, but they got on fine.
"I knew you'd be happy to hear that. She'll be sleeping in the guest bedroom near you."
As your mother leaves, Jason had an idea to use Lucy as a test subject. He thought it might be weird to use a katana on a family member he was particularly close to, but since it was apparently reality-altering, maybe she wouldn't mind. Or perhaps he could try telling her the truth about the katana, and seeing what she wants to do with it.
About an hour later, Lucy arrived with her bags. No sooner had she entered than Jason came down the stairs to greet her.
"Hi, Jason!" she beamed.
She let go of her bags and put out her arms to hug her cousin.
"Great to see you again, cuz!" Jason said.
After thinking it over, Jason decided what he wanted to do...
