Emily was confused for a moment. She felt oddly out of place. She took a deep breath and gathered her thoughts. She was a professional photographer hired to take pictures of this wedding. She was holding her expensive camera. She was dressed sharply. For the life of her she couldn’t figure out why she felt so out of place.
She stared at the camera’s digital display. The screen was flashing an odd error. SELF-AWARE MODE TEMPORARILY DEACTIVATED. PLEASE REFER TO MANUAL OR RESTART.
“I don’t have time for this” she muttered. “I have a reception to shoot.”
As if on her command the crowd in the church began moving towards the exit and emerged into a brightly lit courtyard. Wait staff zipped around the various tables and the crowd began to mingle amongst the joyous decorations.
Emily smiled and began to mingle, raising her camera to catch excited guests as they enjoyed the event. First she trained her camera on two groomsmen taking shots. The flash went off. She smiled brightly at the pregnant woman she had just photographed.
She moved on and noticed a fancy couple holding hands. The man was sleek and the woman elegant. She raised the camera and took the picture, smiling as she wonder if the twin eight year old girls would look back on this picture in the years to come.
She trained her camera on the dance floor where an older couple was pulling off a surprisingly adroit dance. She took the picture. She thought about deleting it because who wants a wedding photo of a drunk college girl dragging her busty friend towards the bathroom. I’ll do that later.
Suddenly - she stopped. The camera was flashing another message. POWERING DOWN. ENERGY STORES DEPLETED. Frustrating. Well , she walked back to her equipment bag and got out an older camera, placing the current one on the charger. She had a job to do.
The next day: Emily woke up and prepared for the family baby pictures she had scheduled for the day. Wondering if her camera was working she turned it back on. POWER LEVELS RESTORED- AWARENESS MODE REACTIVATED
