"Fine, if it shuts you up and gets us out of here I'll put on one of your stupid costumes" Nicola sighed, pulling the first one she came across off the rail. It was a witch costume, though a sexy one with a low cut, figure hugging dress rather than the type associated with Trick or Treating. She then handed the less glamorous looking item that came with it to James.
"Not that one, I'll look ridiculous!" he protested but Nicola wasn't taking no for an answer.
"We'll be here all day if I let you choose. Besides, witches and cats go well together" she added with a wink.
James shrugged in reluctant agreement as the pair made their way into the changing booths. Sometime later Nicola emerged in her costume. Though the change wasn't dramatic she looked a little different somehow, her hair black rather than brown, her already attractive figure completely flawless now. She felt a change in her mind as well, not content to be just sarcastic and sassy now but actively cruel, maybe even a little evil.
As she admired her reflection something came scampering out of the other changing room.
"James?" Nicola looked down at the black cat at her feet in amusement. James meowed back at her in what sounded like shock and confusion. Nicola cackled to herself gleefully. So the old crone hadn't been lying - magic was real. And more importantly, she now had the power to use it as she wished.
