Sam hated his job. Every freaking day of the week he had to wake up far too early, then go to that stupid Wendy's and then take people's stupid freaking orders. He'd be there all damn day and then go home to his shitty apartment. There he'd waist his time with anything distracting, then he'd not get enough sleep and wake up the next day to repeat.
He tried to enjoy his weekends but he didn't have enough money to do much. So he'd just spend his nights alone. The fun nights usually meant parties that he wasn't invited to but those were few and far between. He hated his life and most people in it. He hadn't talked to his family in ages since he didn't want to show his failure. They didn't even know where he was.
It started out as a normal Monday. Sam was having trouble sleeping that night so he ended up waking before his alarm even sounded.
"Perfect. Fucking perfect." He said with a groggy groan.
Sam got out of bed after a few minutes of staring at the ceiling and then got to making breakfast. By that of course he always meant pouring some off brand cereal into an overused bowl with little milk. He was about to make some food when he got a notification on his phone. It was a slightly older model so it got spam pretty often, so Sam assumed it was just that.
He ate his cereal and then took a shower. He got into his uniform and sat on the couch. Waking up early meant he had a few minutes so he just starred at the spot where he wished he bought a tv. He decided to check out the spam from before and was surprised to see it was a message from some app he never downloaded.
It read... "Tired of your boring life? Do you want change? Maybe you want to be different, or maybe you want to change your family or friends? Maybe you don't even want to experience the change yourself? Maybe you just want the world to chaotically alter. Download this app, and you can change reality with the snap of your phone's camera. Give it a whirl."
Sam just laughed. It was just some dumb camera app. Nothing actually important, but he did wonder what it was doing on his phone. He opened it up and it brought him to the camera on his phone but the descriptions on the bottom were all off. He then decided...
