An Impatient Enchantress

added by Alphagor 4 years ago O

Having plotting countless schemes over many centuries, Morgan le Fay was a master of playing the long game and planning traps well in advance. Naturally, this required a monumental amount of patience. But even great monuments can be toppled by wear and tear and there was only so many setbacks anyone can take before their patience began to wear thin.

Her patience probably wouldn't have been so bad at this point if one of her more diabolical plans hadn't been negated. She had managed to neutralize one of the O'Tools and doubled the chances of getting a very powerful future apprentice. Better yet, she tricked a version of Ann into severing ties with her family on a selfish impulse and bound her to Morgan. That created a very nice rift that Morgan would have exploited further. But then that blasted Merlin went and snipped off that particular branch in both timelines at the root and now Morgan couldn't access what she gained.

Morgan glared at her crystal ball, which showed Gloria and Lynne visiting the alternate timeline. "You just couldn't do what I wanted, could you?" she grumbled, "Nooo... You had to get along like good little sisters. You couldn't even drop dead when I wanted you to." Her latest plan to isolate Lynne from her family was brilliant. The girl was so heedless, headstrong, and hotheaded that she should have been easy to turn against the others if she thought she had been wronged. All it took was a forged entry in Gloria's diary to make everyone start to worry. A reckless teenaged girl with near-limitless potential in magic would be something to fear and try to restrain. And that made Lynne lash out exactly as Morgan had hoped.

And it would have been perfect if that heart attack had killed Gloria instead of just sending her to the hospital. Morgan had gone to a lot of work putting that curse in place to weaken Gloria's heart without being detected. All Gloria had to do was die and a guilt-ridden Lynne would have been easy prey for Morgan's temptations. But no, the little brat survived and their sisterhood was mending. It made Morgan want to tear out her hair.

"If they didn't have so many friends and family, it would be easier to get what I want," grumbled Morgan, feeling like smashing something. Then she looked thoughtful. "Perhaps I'm being a little too subtle with eliminating them. I need to be more direct if I want actual results. They're not likely to leave themselves open for bad wishes. And I can't send a plague because that might wipe everyone out. Oh, perhaps I should send a monster to thin the herd. Yes, a nasty beast should do the trick. It's time to stop fooling around."

But conjuring up the right monster for the job was going to take a bit of time. And she needed something to take the edge off her bad mood now. Feeling a little curious, she shifted the crystal ball's gaze to another place in another timeline. It refocused on the image of an adult Jackie and a slightly younger Ann. Morgan rolled her eyes and said, "Ugh, those two again. Why can't they just get a room and get it over with?" Examining the image, she found out that Jackie was currently at Ann's house and there was no one else present. "Hmm...maybe I can spice things up a bit between those two," said Morgan.

Fortunately, she happened to have just the thing for an occasion like this. Rummaging through her various cursed objects, she eventually found what she was looking for. Morgan held up a small pink box, but carefully held it out at arm's length. As magically-protected as she was, this stuff was very insidious and had a way of getting around defenses. Just picking up a whiff of its perfumed scent was enough to make Morgan feel a little bit ditzy and horny. She'll have to check her hair for any unwanted color changes later. But this will be a perfect thing to send to those age-crossed lovers.

Heading back to her crystal ball, it took a little bit of magic to send the box to Ann's doorstep and make sure the bell rang. Then she sat and waited for the trap to be sprung. The downside to this working would be that Ann wouldn't be very useful as an apprentice afterwards. But Morgan had lost her best chance at snaring Ann and she doubted she'd get her again. And a little spite goes a long way in relieving stress.
