“Evening ladies,”
Ann and Jackie spun around quickly, surprised to hear a voice behind them. Turning the two women were surprised to see an elderly wizard in ancient robes standing behind them.
“Merlin,” Ann asked. “What are you doing here?”
“And what’s with the robes,” Jackie added. “Don’t you usually have a suit on?”
Merlin smiled as he began to make his way r watching the various timelines closely he felt it necessary to intervene in Ann and Jackie’s evening. “Yes usually for business purposes,” he said. “At least my doppelgänger does. Different timelines, different Merlin’s. It’s all quite confusing so I’ll spare you the gory details. Right now though I was hoping I could get a hold of that package your holding.”
Ann and Jackie gave the wizard a confused look as they handed the small package to Merlin. Taking the gift in his hand he frowned as he examined it. “That witch,” he mumbled. “Sending this to mortals, she’s growing desperate....and dangerous.”
“Umm What the hell are you mumbling about,” Jackie asked, still confused by not only the package but Merlin’s appearance.
“Hmm oh my apologies,” Merlin said sheepishly. “Don’t mind me, just an old man and his old man ramblings.” Carefully he now held the gift as he smiled at the two age crossed lovers. “So sorry to interrupt your evening. This...gift, it accidentally made its way to this location. I need to get it back to my shop, it can prove to be problematic in the wrong hands.”
Ann and Jackie could only nod as the wizard began to leave. Turning back towards Ann and Jackie he smiled wirely at the couple. “I do hope you two have a pleasant weekend,” she smiled. “Just be careful with the Ring Jackie, careless wishing could turn this weekend of fun into a weekend of babysitting.”
Ann and Jackie blushed as they exchanged a sideways glance at one another. As Merlin waved goodbye and vanished down the hall the two now sat in awkward silence.
“Any idea what that was about,” Jackie asked.
“Not a clue,” Ann answered, still puzzled. Turning towards her now older girlfriend she gave the woman an coy smirk. “Babysitting huh. You want to be THAT much older than me?”
“Wait what,” Jackie exclaimed. “No..I mean...I hadn’t even thought about that. I was mostly looking forward to cuddling with you on the couch after dinner.”
Ann giggled as she placed a gentle kiss on Jackie’s cheek. Sighing she leaned into her girlfriend, finding Jackie’s awkward response to be adorable. “We really do have the weirdest relationship huh,” she chuckled. “Other couples have to worry about where to go to dinner or when to make time for one another. We have to worry about whether one of us is going to end up back in grade school.”
Jackie laughed in spite of herself as she playfully shoved her girlfriend. “Well you were adorable at 6,” she chuckled. “For now though how about we watch something on Netflix. Really want to cuddle with you.”
“I like that plan,” Ann smiled as she now closed the door to her apartment. As Ann and Jackie brought their dinner to the couch they could only sigh happily. Neither one aware they had come very close to falling into a very dangerous magical trap.
