"Mai, what's wrong," asked Freed as he knocked at the wardrobe door.
Trying to clear her nose, Mai called out, "Go away Freed! I just wanna be alone."
"Mai, we can't help you if you don't tell us what's wrong," spoke up the catgirl, Celine.
"Telling us won't hurt anything....will it," asked the merman poking his head out of the floating sphere of water. "Plus we really need you to come out before this spell ends, otherwise some ones carrying me back to the Aquarius dorm."
"Vesper, don't rush her. If the spell ends I'll carry you myself....or throw you to the dorm," said Eva the Minotaur, as she flexed one arm.
After a few moments, Mai slid a letter under the wardrobe door. Freed knelt down and picked it up. After reading it, he sighed sadly and passed it to Eva.
"Dear Mai Brightwing,
After hearing about your sudden transformation and the unsuccessful attempts of the professors to restore you to your old self, we the village elders have decided a human sized pixie would have no place in our village and ask that you try to find a new home after finishing your schooling.
With Regrets,
Hatrica"
"Those bastards kicked you out? No wonder you're balling your eyes out," exclaimed Vesper. "I don't know what I would do if I never could return."
"Thanks, that really helps," retorted Freed. "Mai let us try and help, I'm not leaving until you do."
They heard the door click open and Mai slowly emerged, her eyes red from her crying. Whipping away some tears, she tried to smile, but found she couldn't. "Thank you for the offer, but if the professors couldn't do it, what could a bunch of students do?"
"The professors have experience, but we have a fresh perspective," said Eva.
"Why not do a shrinking potion or spell," asked Celine.
"Been there, tried that. All spells fizzled out when they hit her and potions had... interesting effects."
"Define interesting," Vesper raised an eyebrow.
"The potions did random changes except shrink me. They only just changed me back to this form. Actually I'm taller than I was when I first changed."
They all were not expecting what would happen that night.
