Chad found himself distracted. He wasn't listening to the teacher or the other students, instead he stared out the window. He could see the athletic field, but it wasn't right. The longer he stared the wronger it looked. There seemed to be cars and people moving by the window. But they couldn't, his classroom was on the second floor. The ghostly images of people and cars grew more solid, and the playing field vanished.
The leash dangled in front of Chad. He blinked how? It was under his clothing - gulp. What clothing?
Chad looked down at his naked body as he squatted in the excelsior. Where had the classroom gone? Where had his clothing gone. And when had he gotten so hairy? He squatted down and covered his crotch, as a kid on a skateboard paused to look at him through the window. Chad pressed his body against the floor, as he blushed, and looked up at the guy smiling down at him. It took a moment for him to realize he was looking at the captain of Devil's Ridge Academy football team. Nick Thompson grinned down at him, and rubbed his hands together. He kicked his skateboard up into his waiting hand, and turned revealing just how tented his jeans had become, and entered the shop. The bell rang.
Thompson asked, "Hey, how much is that doggy in the window. The one with with the waggily tail?"
Chad had been aware of something whacking his buttocks gently. He had assumed he was near a fan with a ribbon or maybe a fuzzy moth. He looked over his shoulder and across his now furry back. There was a tail growing from the base of his spine. He yelped. There were more voices including Nick's but Chad was no longer able to comprehend the words being said. Chad stared at the city street again, it seemed to be growing paler, and the scents around him were growing stronger. The smells seemed to resonate with color, just as the buildings, cars and people going by faded to monochrome. What was going on? He whimpered and scrunched down in the excelsior.
