It had been five long years since the camera had transformed both Emily and Rick into Betty and Becca. The two babies had awoken to a new family that had adopted them. They were happy to be away from their "mother" but from there the good news ended. They had to grow up all over again.
The had no bladder control, and shit themselves constantly. They had now muscles so they pretty much just laid wherever their adoptive parents left them. They had to sit through hours and days worth of baby talk, terrible tv shows, and annoying new relatives. Rick felt even worse. On top of everything, he was now forced to wear "adorable" dresses and listen to his new father call him a daddy's girl.
After a year the two had started to crack, but walking helped ease their sanity. They were restricted in where they could go but at least they could go anywhere on their own. The two weren't identical but they were still color coded. Emily, or Betty, was purple, while Rick, or Becca, was pink. Much to his dismay.
Talking also helped ease their situation. During the day they could make basic requests from their parents, while late at night they could whisper to one another. Emily almost dried the first time she talked to Rick again. They originally only talked about the camera and plans to find it, but they soon changed their talks as it became clear they weren't able to do much about it any time soon.
By year two, they had almost fully adjusted. Even though they could talk fully, they found themselves using toddler vocabulary. They started to feel like their situation was the norm. Betty even occasionally wondered if her old life was just a dream. Becca kept her grounded. Becca was the grounded one but also the most frustrated.
His hair, which was still curly and red, had reached his shoulders. He repeatedly tried to ask for it to be short but his parents thought Becca was just interested in haircuts. They often joked she'd be the best woman at the salon, which only worsened Becca's mood. They always tried to act happier then they were to help their parents and themselves.
By their third year, preschool was starting. One day after a long day of singing their A B C's, Betty asked Becca something in their princess themed room.
"Hey Becca." She asked in an adorable voice. "I think we hasta stop thinkin bout our old vives."
Becca wanted to disagree but she realized Betty was right. They were only hurting themselves. Within a week the two had mentally regressed to the point of almost forgetting who they once were. Subconsciously they remembered, but it only came into thought once every few months by year four.
It was their final year of preschool and the girls had gotten a new class of students. Some old but most of them new. The girls were five now and basically never thought about their old lives. That was the case, until Becca saw something in her classmate's bag. She looked in and saw the camera!!! Suddenly everything came back to her. Her memories flooded back to her conscious brain completely as hope was restored. She looked over at the owner of the bag with the camera and it was a little blond boy named Desmond.
Becca realized it was the girl who had fought Betty for the camera all those years ago. Maybe she had changed too? It didn't matter. Becca got up, making sure her cute dress wan't caught on anything and then ran to Betty during playtime. Becca simply pointed and Betty almost started crying. There it was, their ticket back to normal. They just had to get it...
