By the time that Tom and Alice had arrived in Moon Lake, it was about 7:00 at night. The street lamps had turned on, illuminating the neighborhood streets.
"I honestly didn't think we'd be back here so soon," Tom said as he took a right at an intersection.
"Nor did I," Alice said. "I assumed that the next time we'd be here together would be around Thanksgiving. Still though, it's not a bad thing that we're back. I mean, I'll get to show you more of Moon Lake when you're not working."
"That does sound pretty nice," Tom said as he pulled the car into the driveway of Alice's parents house. As he turned off the car and Alice began to get out, the front door to the house opened, and Lucy Stevens came running out. It didn't take long for both Tom and Alice to notice how worried she was.
"Thank goodness you're both okay!" she said. "I was so concerned after Harold told me about what happened today, Tom. Did you get their names? Surely you got their names when you talked to them, right?"
"Mom, calm down," Alice said, walking up to her mother and giving her a hug. "We're fine. We'll settle this as soon as we get our bags inside, okay?"
Lucy Stevens nodded. "Alright," she said. "But I want to know what happened as soon as you have all your stuff inside."
