“Is the first shipment ready?”
“Almosst, just a few more minutess and we can ssend them off.”
This section of the Mall, ordinarily used for supplies intake had, as part of FarmazooCo’s investment, been redesigned and repurposed to enable an outflow of goods. Chiefly, the fully transformed victims who had been the first arrivals, and would now be the first to leave, on FarmazooCo’s terms.
Modified delivery truck trailers waited patiently for the variety of new animals to be loaded into them. The smaller ones were obviously the easiest to handle. Many of them securely caged, loaded in, and strapped down with larger ones having to be corralled into specialised trailers before being locked in.
The very largest of the Savannah Group, Rhinos, Elephants, and the likes proved particularly challenging, given that 100% transformation would essentially render them too large to transport in this manner.
“So tell me again, just how are we going to get the big ones over?”
“Director Ssara.” He turned to face his feline boss. “We went over thiss during the briefingss.”
“That doesn’t change the fact that I want to hear it again, I need to give them accurate reports.” Sara countered, her serpentine underline kept at the edge of her sight while she looked down at the work being undertaken.
Had the workers below not been so preoccupied with their own work, they would have assumed that two of their superiors within the new power structure were simply having a conversation on the walkways above them. Which would not be completely inaccurate.
As for Sara‘s companion? Much like Sara in being a partially transformed animal, carrying traits of human and snake, python perhaps. Lean built with a hint of muscle tone, tailless, standing very slightly shorter than his boss and unlike her, didn’t even have footwear to cover himself. Every last one of his green-and-brown scales on display.
“Then ass you are aware, ssincce transsporting them when fully changed issn’t all that manageable, we have to usse a workaround.” He began as they left the depot, Sara’s heels clicking the only other sound once they entered one of the many corridors. “Right now thosse who are ssufficciently advancced are already being taken asside to have the mental condittioning completed. They’ll be ready for when we make the nexxt sshhipment, and have their physsical changess completed on-ssite.”
“Good. Anything else I need to know?”
“Ass you can ssee from our latesst report,” He handed the relevant files over to Sara. “Everything is going along ssmoothly, ssave for ssome ssmall isssues regarding problematic sstaff. Following Emily, we have had five more of the original employeess attempting to remove people from the premissess. One wass quite, forceful in hiss attemptss, sso we needed to take acttion before we could alert you.” He continued while Sara read the report elements regarding that.
“Good. Where is he now then?”
“You ssaw him being sshhipped a few minutess ago.” He responded with a smile stretched onto his snout. “The otherss are waiting by your officce for you.”
“Very good. Now, Hamal, this does leave the Malls a little, short-staffed.” She stopped short of the door, signalling that she had instructions for him. “And while we did factor this in, it’ll take time for replacement, compliant staff to arrive. Which means I’ll need you to cover one of the vacated positions until they get here. Can you do that?”
“It won‘t be a problem.” Hamal assured her. “With how many are in sso many differing phassess, I’ll be able to move around freely enough.”
“Very well. There’s about half the day left, once it’s done, I’ll want you in my office for the meeting, we’ll be deciding out next move then, after which, perhaps, a little fun.” She added the last part with a playful grope of her massive mammary.
“I’ll be there.” He promised as they entered the Main Mall proper, she back to her offices to handle the uncooperative employees, he to the Clothing Stores to replace one of said uncooperative.
