"No, Deirdre," Becky said softly.
"What? What're you talking about, let's GO!" Deirdre said, slightly angry.
"He won't try to get in. You're safe enough in here. Going out there....there's no telling what he might do." Deirdre knew Becky was right, but she didn't feel safe, no matter what Becky told her.
"Well...we can't call the cops. They wouldn't believe us," Deirdre said, sounding defeated. "We're trapped."
"True enough," said Becky, "I'm going to borrow your bathroom for a second; I'll be right back."
"Okay," replied Deirdre. But while Becky was in the bathroom, it was as though a light went on in Deirdre's head. Becky had known all along! He was her husband, for Chrissakes! She began to stand up quietly, wanting to sneak out while Becky was still occupied.
She'd barely gotten to her feet when she heard, "Sit down! There's no point to running." Deirdre turned, seeing Becky in Deirdre's own satin bathrobe, holding something that Deirdre couldn't identify.
"You bitch," said Deirdre, angry at her own stupidity as much as anything else.
"Guilty as charged, I suppose," said Becky, sounding slightly glum. "We didn't come over here to do this....it just sort of happened. Werewolves are people, just like you. But three days out of the month, we...are susceptible to changing shape. Ronald wouldn't have shifted just from the moonlight. It takes more than that to bring out the predator in us."
"Blood," replied Deirdre," and here I was, menstruating this whole time. Fucking lovely. So what now?" she asked, a feeling of dread pervading her.
"I think you know what's next, dear. Don't run when it happens. That's why people die. Just sit there and let it happen. You'll feel much better in the morning," Becky was trying to sound reassuring, but it was failing miserably on Deirdre.
"So you want me to fucking sit here, spread my legs and let you bite me? Are you fucking crazy?" she asked, despite the fact that she hadn't moved away.
"Of course not, dear. And I'm not a lesbian, so I wouldn't really enjoy all that," Becky said in a slightly chiding tone. "That's what this is for." She displayed the object for Deirdre to see; it was one of her freshly-used maxi pads.
Becky tugged the robe open, tossing it to the floor, dropping to all fours, her muscles tensing in anticipation of the coming change. She smiled as she brought the maxi pad to her face, eagerly licking the clotted blood. Becky's whole body immediately began to quake.
Deirdre quickly realized why Becky's change was so much more severe; it was due to actually tasting the blood. Loud snapping and popping assaulted Deirdre's ears; the sounds of Becky's body growing new muscle mass. Whereas Ronald hadn't gained in size, Becky was, her muscles bulging as her skin sprouted the brownish-blonde fur.
