Lucy panted with exhaustion and exhileration as the owners footsteps moved away from her. She had given him the slip and bought Laura more time in the process. But what about Annie and Sophie? She had to find them and make sure they were safe.
After waiting a few minutes to ensure the owner was way out of sight Lucy crawled out of her hiding place and emerged on the storeroom floor. There was nobody there. Well, it was good that there was no sign of the owner, but what of her friends?
After a few minutes of cautious searching proved fruitless Lucy picked up a familiar scent. Was that Sophie? Or Annie? Or maybe even both? Lucy followed her nose to a partially opened door she hadn't noticed before. She was able to slip through it but it slammed closed and seemed to autolock behind her. Shit! There was no way back now.
Before she had time to worry about that Lucy heard a familiar voice.
"Lucy *ook* get out of here before he comes back *ook*" Sophie warned. She was crouched down in a cage that was barely large enough to contain her.
A muffled croaking sound then caught Lucy's attention. Turning round she was shocked to see Annie squatting in a human sized water tank, knee deep in muddy water and surrounded by foliage. How dare that bastard treat her friends like this?
"*arf* I'll get you out of there" Lucy promised but Sophie shook her head.
"He has the keys. It's too dangerous to *ook* go near him. Just get out of here and save yourself."
Annie seemed to be croaking in agreement but there was no way Lucy would abandon her friends now.
