Kyle jumped over the couch, tackling Jeffery and pinning him to the chair opposite, both of them laughing, then giving twin oh-ohs when the chair almost tipped over with their impact, then when it steaded , fresh waves of laughter. Kyle had his effeminate boyfriend pinned by his wrists, and wearing his grin set to "melt," went in and kissed Jeffery. The two of them lost in lust, Kyle started tugging at Jeffery's colorful shirt while Jeffery squeezed his hot boy toy's hot butt.
During mid kiss, Jeffery suddenly felt on odd sensation. The two lovers stopped kissing and looked at one another for a moment, confused. Then, the looks of confusion became awkward discomfort. Kyle shook his head as if trying to clear it, then stood up. "Uh, what's happening?"
Jeff sat up, straightening his t-shirt, also trying to clear his head. "Um, yeah, uh, I was just going to... oh yeah, you were dropping these off." Jeff grabbed a folder sitting on the couch that hadn't been there a moment ago.
Kyle looked troubled for a moment, as if he was torn over something. Slowly the look faded. "Right, sorry. Yeah, everything is there for the football team website updates. Coach Turner says he really appreciates your help."
"No problem." Jeff looked over the paperwork, even as his mind raced to try to figure out what had happened. He remembered everything, he figured that was normal since he handn't checked off being unaware of any changes the Chronivac made to him... and damn was that close, he'd nearly had gay sex with Kyle Reed! He didn't have anything against Kyle, but he was straight (at least now), and the thought of gay sex with anyone made him shiver with disgust, probably just like a gay man would feel if asked to have sex with a woman.
But the feelings from only a few moments ago had been so intense, he had to admit he felt... something... for Kyle. A bond of brotherhood, or friendship maybe, that he'd never noticed before? He looked up, and Kyle was staring at him, then immediately looked down, as if he'd been found-out. Huh, Jeff thought, I wonder if Kyle really is gay anyway? The Chronivac changed Jeff into Jeffery, but that didn't mean it changed Kyle at all. Jeff suddenly felt more emotions... he couldn't even tell what they were, becuase it was all so confusing, but he thought he felt a little sorry for Kyle, and guilty that he had ever used the Chronivac at all. But even straight Jeff could tell Kyle was a decent looking guy, surely if he swung that way he wouldn't have a problem finding a boyfriend.
"I have to tell you something," Kyle said nervously, shifting on his feet.
Jeff wasn't sure he liked where this was going, but his thoughts were interrupted when the doorbell rang. It couldn't be mom, she would still be doing her job search... Mom! Jeff remembered, she was back, she's alive again! He immediately felt a sense of relief. Then a moment later, he felt a sense of dread; she was a hard woman to be around since being out of work... honestly most days it sucked being around her at all, she had become so bitter. Then he felt more guilt... he missed Aunt Carol. In this reality his mother was alive and Aunt Carol was deceased... he had never known her. But now he knew the Aunt Carol from the other reality, and she had been so nice and supportive... why couldn't Mom be like her?
"I better be going," Kyle said, suddenly closed up tight with the sound of the doorbell.
"Yeah, uh, thanks for bringing this stuff over." He walked to the front door with Kyle. "I should have the changes up tonight."
"Great, I'll tell coach when I see him later," Kyle said, shaking his hand, all professional athlete now, as Jeff answered the front door. There stood Coach Gillian. "Hey Coach Gillian," Kyle greeted, surprised. "Small world."
"Hello Mister Reed, Mister Kaylon," Gillian responded rather tightly.
"I just dropped off the updates for the website for Coach Turner," Kyle explained, shifting feet again slightly awkwardly. "Jeff is being gracious enough to help the team out with it."
"That's very nice of Mister Kaylon," Gillian said, looking at Jeff with a hard, steady, unflinching gaze.
"Well, I have to get home. See you later Coach. Thanks for the help Jeff." And with that Kyle made a hasty exit.
"Goodbye Mister Reed." Gillian didn't even look at Kyle, her eyes watching Jeff without wavering. Once Kyle was gone, she walked in, and closed the door behind her. "You're looking very much your old self." She took the Chronivac out of her pocket. She had decided to go back to her office for it and check on 'Jeffery' - and now she was glad she did. "You tricked me somehow."
"What?" Jeff started to panic. "But I don't even know what happened. One minute I was about to be sexually molested by the captain of the football team, and the next - "
"Yes, I saw it," Coach Gillian said, unconvinced. "I couldn't have been more than 10 feet away at the window - I thought it prudent to see the lay of the land before knocking. Are we alone?"
"Yeah," Jeff answered nervously, "But my mom could be home at any time."
"Good," the girl's coach answered. "Then the three of us can sit down and have a good long talk."
"But I didn't do this - I didn't change myself back," Jeff protested, still quietly thanking God that he was changed back, nevertheless. "You can't tell her. Please, can't we just work something out between the two of us?"
They both turned when they heard a car door close from outside.
