Lilia was running late, and that meant she was in trouble. She tried to time things just right, but caught too much traffic on her way to Kevin's. She hurried to his door and had just knocked when another car pulled into the driveway. A woman got out and walked up to Kevin's door in a low-cut dress. Lilia caught a glimpse of a necklace or medallion of some kind that looked strangely familiar.
Gisela looked over the woman on Kevin's doorstep. Who was she and what was she doing here, especially now?
"I think you might be at the wrong house" suggested Gisela.
Just then Kevin opened the door and stopped in his tracks. His eyes darted nervously back and forth between Lilia to Gisela. He hadn't intended for both of them to arrive at the same time.
"Who is she?" they both asked at the same time.
"Come inside and let me explain everything" said Kevin.
He smiled and held the door as both ladies walked into his living room, taking note of the maritime theme.
Both women stood there, arms crossed, as he tried to think of how to begin. Lilia was feeling warm and could feel the sweat beading on her forehead.
"Kevin, I'm almost out of time..."
Gisela head whipped around to glare at her. "What's your hurry?"
Lilia's eyes went wide. The sudden turn had caused Gisela's necklace to pop out, revealing the unmistakable shape of a golden mermaid.
"Where did you get that?" Lilia exclaimed. Before Gisela could react, Lilia grabbed the necklace and yanked it off Gisela's neck. Gisela screamed and lunged at Lilia who stumbled backwards. Unable to stand as her transformation took hold without the necklace, Gisela fell to the floor, her dress catching and tearing on a piece of furniture in the process.
Lilia looked at Gisela on the floor as the golden fish scales began to spread on her legs then turned to Kevin. "Have you been cheating on me with another mermaid ?!"
Before Kevin could respond, Lilia crumpled to the floor as her own change began.
