Just as Lucy was readying herself to pounce on her helpless prey Lucy hurriedly finished her spell stopping the dog girl in her tracks.
Laura's heart pounded as she slipped through the bars of the gate out of Lucy's grasp, relieved not only at her escape but that for once one of Sophie's spells hadn't accidentally transformed her.
"Sophie! Annie!" Lucy bounded over to the gate to meet her friends wagging her tail joyfully"Thank goodness you *arf* came! I know a way out of here. Meet me round the back *arf* *arf*!"
"Great job *ook* Laura!" Sophie complimented her friend who was presently too out of breath to reply.
"And great job with that *croak* spell Soph. You saved Laura's bacon there!" Annie gushed.
"Beginners luck *squeak*" Portia wasn't sure where her hostility to Sophie came from, but she couldn't shake the feeling the monkey girl had done something to her she couldn't remember.
Before long the group were reunited with their friend, but it was soon clear she only remembered two of them. The rat girl was new and why did they have a piglet with them? How random!
"This is *ook* Portia and that's, um, Laura" Sophie explained guiltily.
"Yeah, Sophie had another *oink* accident" Laura added.
Lucy seemed taken aback "Your pet pig can talk *arf*?"
"Um, no" Sophie didn't feel there was time to explain or push her luck with another spell right now "You must be imagining things *ook*. Right Laura?"
"Oink! Oink!" Laura couldn't believe she was back to animal noises again.
"Ok *croak* Annie beamed as she hopped ahead eager to return to her pond "Time to go home"
Lucy followed, eyeing Laura hungrily. She couldn't really eat her friends pet pig no matter how tempting it was.
