The rest of the day passed by with little fanfare. Tanya and Dawn had the same classes and only spoke a little about them and homework, trying their best to pretend as though everything was normal. It wasn't though. Every time they flicked the hair out of their eyes, every time they moved and every time someone called them by their new names, they were reminded of their situation.
By the end of the day, neither of them had found the book, so they joined with Kate and Rachel outside in the parking lot.
“Hey,” Tanya said glumly, holding up a hand, as Dawn just made an unintelligible sound.
Kate didn't reply and instead was sitting on Rachel's shoulder looking exhausted.
On the other hand, Rachel looked completely fine and she didn't seem embarrassed by the bikini she was wearing out in the open. She raised an eyebrow. “Are you okay?” she asked.
Dawn glared at her. “What do you think?” she hissed.
Rachel blinked. “Oh right. Sorry I'm just kinda used to seeing the both of you laughing and talking to each other after school.” She frowned. “I've never seen the both of you so miserable.”
Tanya could recall doing that with Dawn when she was a guy before, but now could only stay silent.
“...We haven't see the book,” Kate finally said after several seconds of silence.
“Yeah we figured,” Dawn grumbled.
“Does that mean we're stuck like this for the entire weekend?” Kate cried.
Dawn nodded. “Either that or we sneak into the school and-!” Her voice died. “What's that?”
Tanya looked forward to see Mrs. Morgan pulling up with a large white van. The teacher rolled down the windows. “Well get in girls. What are you waiting for?”
Tanya and Dawn exchanged a look, but Rachel opened the passenger seat door and sat in the seat inside. Mrs. Morgan gave Kate a smile. “You can sit in your normal seat.” She pointed next to her to a small seat perfect for Kate's size just between her and Rachel. Blushing she flew over to her seat and sat down.
Mrs.Morgan glanced at Tanya and Dawn. “Are you girls going to get in?”
Dawn nodded mutley and pulled the doors open to reveal an empty space inside the van. “I guess that's where we sit,” she muttered to Tanya, pulling herself inside and coiling herself at the right side of the van.. After a moment of hesitation, Tanaya climbed into the van and lowered herself to sitting position. No point in a belt.
The moment she did she realized she had to pee.
