"Imagination?" A voice scoffed. "Kevin?"
Kev whirled to watch Jared enter through the back door. Only, he knew, this impostor wasn't Jared. Instead the real Jared occupied the body of the family's loyal English sheepdog while the former pet now animated Jared's 17-year-old form.
"Yes, and you should have heard the story he was trying to tell me about you," Mrs. Webster told her oldest.
The older brother walked over and placed a hand on the younger sibling's shoulder. He squeezed, hard. "What you been saying about me, Kev?"
Mom shook her head. "Take it up outside my kitchen," she said. "I have to get dinner started."
Kev felt the impostor's steady hand on his shoulder, directing his exit from the kitchen. Once they were alone, the older brother put both hands on Kev and turned him to face him. "So, spreading tales about your big bro?"
Kev felt very intimidated next to the form of the muscular teenager and debated whether to own up to the truth and to encourage Shaggy to help him put things right.
"Kev, I'm waiting," the impostor said.
