Katie and Gloria turned nervously to each other before cautiously gazing at their teenage mother. “Um hi, Lisa,” Gloria said nervously. “Is everything okay?”
Teen Lisa let out an aggravated groan as she looked between the three sisters. “No everything sucks right now,” she grumbled. “Everyone keeps yelling at me about stuff. Aunt Ann and Jackie just laughed at me when I arrived. Then Lynne here is trying to stop me from going for a walk.”
“Lisa,” Katie said nervously. “Their just worried that’s all.”
“Well it sucks,” Teen Lisa grumbled. “I mean I’m 13...no wait, that’s not right.” Lisa now rubbed her head as the three sisters stared at her in awe.
The young ten seemed to grow in front of them, going from 13 to 14. Lisa regained an inch or two while her teenage curves developed a little more. As the now 14 year old blinked she looked between the three before frowning at Lynne.
“You know it’s really unfair that you get to travel in time,” she yelled. “I mean. Everyone is always like, oh Lynne is so special, oh Lynne’s magic is so impressive. I’m impressive too sis, but no! Everyone is always like sorry Lisa we don’t have time for your volleyball game and Lisa you need to control your temper if you ever want to learn magic.”
Turning the girl pushed Lynne, her face red with anger. “I hate that everyone always treats me like the bad seed and I’m even more mad you ditched me to go to the past. We’re twins Lynne!”
Lynne could only gaze at her 14 year old mother. The magic she was experiencing had made them twins now with Gloria as their mother. Slowly but surely Lynne was gaining memory flashes of this altered reality. Lisa was the hothead, so much so that she made Lynne’s mischievious nature seem tame. This girl wasn’t trusted with magic because of her temper, which hurt her tremendously. The twins would often talk about this and while publicly Lisa would say she didn’t care, privately she often confided in her twin that she was hurt that she played second fiddle to her sister.
Lynne rubbed her head as she gained knowledge of this spell. “I’m sorry...Lisa,” she said quietly. “I...I probably should of taken you with me or told you before I left.”
“Duh,” Lisa snorted, narrowing her eyes.
“Um Lisa,” Gloria said meekly. “I’m....I’m glad your okay but I need to speak with Lynne and Katie for a moment, in private.”
“Ugh fine,” she groaned. “Always leave me out of the loop. Fine, I’ll be our room Lynne.” The sisters watched as the teen now stormed away from them, slamming the door behind her. “Geez,” Katie said quietly. “I’ve heard mom was a hothead as a kid but DAMN never knew it was that bad.”
“Lynne,” Gloria said quickly. “Why does mom think you two are twins and what did you learn when reality altered for you? I saw the look on your face, the Magic affecting mom gave you some insight about what’s going on.”
Lynne sighed as she now tried to explain what she had seen. Lisa now was the wild rebellious sister of Lynne, with Gloria as their mother. Lisa, who was a hothead as a kid, was even angrier now since everyone believed she was too ill tempered to learn magic. As a result the girl was angry quite often but also incredibly angry and sad. Despite Lisa’s accomplishments in sports she often felt overshadowed by her magical twin sister.
“Crap,” Lynne groaned, turning to Gloria. “You remember how we got along when I showed in the last Gloria?”
“Unfortunately yes,” Gloria frowned. “You were an ass, thought I was a dork, and things were miserable.”
“Wow thanks sis,” Lynne grumbled. “Well unfortunately that’s kind of what me and mom have now. She’s jealous and angry that I have magic and she doesn’t. She tries so hard to do well but feels like she’s the black sheep and that no one likes her. I remember us talking about it but she just feels like everyone likes me more than her.”
Gloria and Katie sadly looked up at the house, feeling incredibly depressed to learn their mother would ever feel she wasn’t loved. “Oh god mom,” Katie whimpered. “Lynne we have to fix this. Please tell me you have an idea.”
“I think me and her need to bond and bury the hatchet,” she sighed. “Mom wants to get to know me better, that’s why this happened in the first place.”
“Okay So what if that doesn’t work,” Gloria asked.
Lynne shrugged as she looked at her sisters. “I don’t know,” she shrugged. “You two are the full fledged wizards, come up with a spell or something to fix mom. In the meantime, I’m going to try and get to know her better.”
As Katie and Gloria watched their sister enter the house they looked at each other sighing in frustration. “You know even if mom is Lynne’s twin now,” Gloria said. “I don’t see how she could think I like her less than Lynne. I mean I love our sister but she’s a pain in the ass.”
Katie stifled a giggle as she placed an arm around her sister. “It’s part of her charm Glo,” she smirked. “Now come on, let’s try and fix mom.”
