Looking at the rest of what Dave/Dusty had written, Joe realized there were now two positions at the company suddenly vacated. That needed seeing to of course...
"The next person to come to come down this hall will be a new hire, coming in from outside the company but massively overqualified, eager to turn this place around, and willing to work for a very modest salary."
As it happened, the next person to head towards Joe was the wizard, having realized he'd lost his pen and searching around for it. As he looked around at all the bustling cubicles and offices, he realized just how much he'd fallen behind the times, selling trinkets out of a tiny little shop to whatever curious and foolish souls happened to wander in. These days most people didn't even seem to collect odd curios. They kept calling his wonderful items junk. What did all today's young people spend all their money on? News headlines always seemed to just prattle on about avocados and "apps." Most certainly he needed to live properly in the world again, see what was what, and how he could more efficiently reach the people. This office was the perfect place! Whatever humdrum tasks they demanded he could certainly handle, or magic up some solution to free up his time, and let him... hang around the water cooler or something, learning what made these people tick.
Striding into his new office and seeing Joe, he greeted him with a friendly handshake, and a quirked eyebrow at what was in his hand. "Hello there! Happy to be working with you, but... I do believe I dropped that pen you're holding."
