Nick had a snap of thought. Why couldn’t he have both? He could keep his memories, maybe add his brother back in or something as well as continuing to be boyfriends with the twins.
Maybe he could pause the transformation for enough time to make the changes. He selected the pause option which seemed to shake the room mid change. He then scanned outwards for nearby entities.
The chronivac tracked a few people within its short range. There was himself in his room, Jared standing patiently at the steps, and Jason still in the living room. Nick had a small tag attached to his name that said “User.”
The twins each had a tag that read “Ideal Boyfriend.” It seemed that Nick could add and remove tags on the entities.
But the chronivac reached out further, within reach of three houses. The house behind Nick’s lived an old couple, and the ones to his sides had a family of three and four.
Nick found a latent file on Jared that resembled parameters for what matched Jeff’s description. He copy and pasted the files into a “New Entity” and placed it in the kitchen.
A pop up appeared and asked for the relation to this new entity. Nick obviously wanted him to be his brother. As he went to click, there was a sound of a door opening.
Nick quickly reached for the power button, accidentally bumping into keys and even his mouse. As he reached for the button, he heard the chime of the chronivac to signal that it had initiated a change. Nick did not know what he’d activated. He’d had all the profiles open of himself, his neighbors, his boyfriends, and Jeff. Anything could’ve been clicked.
He turned around trying to act cool. It was Jared standing in the doorway, naked. Nick suddenly felt a boner, even after the days activities.
“Sorry,” Nick apologized. He smiled as he thought of an excuse. “I had to send an email to work. I called off due to a family emergency, if you know what I mean.”
Jared grinned incessantly, “You bet I do. Come on, let’s head back downstairs.”
Jared turned around and the two walked downstairs.
Nick worried to himself and hesitated before following. He can’t just stay up here. It’d be suspicious. He’d have to face whatever mistake he’d made.
Nick took a deep breath. Still in his towel, he walked down the stairs.
